for at least the next week, in solidarity with the LGBTQ community and in memory of the dead.
(on edit) to clarify my intent...this is meant as an INITIAL act, not as a suggestion for the entirety of DU's response. It was never my belief that changing our avatars was ALL that should be done.

(14,498 posts)Unless we can link to US politicians who say things like "I believe marriage is a sacred bond between a man and a woman."
Ken Burch: are people who say things like THAT, part of the PROBLEM.... or part of the SOLUTION?

(50,254 posts)There's no conflict between that and the avatar statement.

(50,254 posts)HRC could probably put this to rest by apologizing for ever saying that.

(14,498 posts)Did she *not* SAY it?
Are there REALLY no implications to the STUPID and/or OPPORTUNISTIC things that she says?
Please, please , please: THINK about it.

(6,578 posts)Clinton has been a firm supporter of LGBT rights for decades
Even if she did not support gay marriage like most Americans 20 years ago she did support equality in pretty much every other area
And unlike the Republicans she has grown and has changed
Contrast that with Donald Trump's vow to repeal gay marriage
I will say this if anyone does not vote for the Democratic president in the November election they do not support gay rights

(23,156 posts)Won't make an iota of difference.
If it makes you feel better, then go ahead.
But telling every single politician who won't support substantive gun control that you will actively campaign against them, that might yield useful results.

(50,254 posts)We should do as you say as well.

Apologies for somehow conveying the idea that that was what I was saying. My bad on the wording.
