I'm horrifically sad

Last edited Mon Jun 13, 2016, 04:19 AM - Edit history (1)

But I just don't know how to express how incredibly sad I am.

And I screwed it up because somebody thought I was mourning a TV show instead of the bright, wonderful human beings that had their lives cut short.

the harder it is to express. That a person can feel so much, with so many emotions racing through them, that expressing those feelings is all but impossible.

You're not inept, Aerows.

but truly understanding the warped mentality it takes to butcher others for hate/bigotry is beyond my grasp.

I can't put myself in their shoes. I can't get inside their minds. I don't want to either.

Right now I don't feel anger. I am far too sad to do so, but I know the anger is there - I feel it waiting its turn. Right now, though, the wound goes too deep.

I feel sick, numb, sad, almost wild with emotions I can't put a name to yet.

It's not the first time I've felt this way either. Hate kills; it is a shadow over all our lives. The haters don't care, and the rest of us are left to struggle with hate's aftermath.

I didn't want to expound but I've had similar posts (which I self-deleted). I am with you. It's dark times. Best wishes my DU friend. I don't know you, I know I've talked to you before about whatever thing, argument, agreeing, whatever.

We're in interesting times. We will forge on. It's all good.

For me, the best method, is deep breathing stuff. Deep breath in, exhale. A dozen times. I'm not trying to promote alternative medicine stuff or meditation. Just try it. I did just now. I feel better.

Best wishes my DU friend even if you don't feel that way about me.

but this is a trainwreck of people who lost their lives and are in my community.

God help the family and friends that have to deal with this on the ground. I can't imagine how awful it is for them.

Both my sons are gay. Both are in long term relationships. I've seen them showing affection for each other
and it warms my heart. There is something very wrong when people don't understand love.

It pisses me off that killing machines are available to anyone in this country to use to wipe out other people
just because you don't understand or agree with someone who is different than you are. It pisses me off
that there are politicians-- and people of influence who claim religion for their justification--who either
encourage this kind of bigotry and hatred or look the other the way when it happens.

I don't see this country coming to grips with these issues, either. Haters gonna' hate and gun nuts gonna' holler
about some damn right to own something that couldn't even be imagined in 1789. On top of that, those
state militias were all about slavery--which could only exist in the context of a police state-- and the enforcement of that police state was the explicit job of the southern state militias.

So, Aerows, I am with you. I am sad for the families and friends of all the people who have been gunned down in these massacres. And I am sad for our country. I don't think
this will be the last time any of us will feel this kind of sadness because how are you going to round up more than 350 million guns? That's how many of them there are in this country.
https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/wonk/wp/2015/10/05/guns-in-the-united-states-one-for-every-man-woman-and-child-and-then-some/

It only takes one hater with one gun to act on his hate. Yes, I am sad with you Aerows, and we all have every right to be sad. So sad.

Until Orlando, the most deadly attack on a gay place was done with gasoline and a match. 32 dead. In 1997 Eric Rudolph used a bomb at the Otherside Lounge in Atlanta.

So sure, guns. But also people. Both are factors. Making it all about the choice of weapon misses important elements and tends to discount the agency of the killers, who did the killings.

I wonder what DU would be talking about if this had been arson or explosives?
