When the French attacks happened everybody had French Flags and posts about praying for the victims but for this no rainbow flags and no prayers.

(5,235 posts)There was a condolence message to the victims and families and the city of Orlando.
But it's been removed for some reason.

(268,930 posts)Gays or Latinos -or those who died in that Planned Parenthood Building attack think long and hard.
That's a fugging trifecta for the RWs which is why I am shaking my head all now.

(10,406 posts)And yes....I have noticed the silence on FB and the lack of any symbols of support. There have been some, but nothing like the Paris attacks.
I would also like to see more visible symbols at DU.

(58,724 posts)I am seeing tons of FB posts with prayers for the victims and scores of people who have put up rainbow flags.

(24,461 posts)I blame the worthless Boehner congress for doing absolutely nothing after Sandy Hook and you can bet the Ryan congress will follow suit in doing shit. We politicized kids being killed to protect "The Precious" and did nothing to make health care (mental health care) more affordable and accessible and did nothing to get AR15s out of the hands of citizens.

(31,810 posts)I didn't do that for the Paris attacks though. These are my fellow country men murdered in cold blood in an act of hate by another person of my country. Shame on anyone who turns their back on their own - while crying for others.
And yes - I'm 'watching' people and I've now unfriended 7 since yesterday late morning. I don't have tons and tons of people on there so it is pretty easy for me to just get rid of anyone who I would be ashamed to be affiliated with in any way, shape, or form.

IMHO, it appears that the three Abrahamic-based religions tend to have more problems with sexual issues than other religions and creeds. No small coincidence that these three religions are testosterone fueled, patriarchal centered, and rife with male privilege.

(12,132 posts)then again, I live here and so do most of my FB friends so I'm probably seeing more than most would.
Found out this morning one of my co-workers was a victim. I didn't know him but the department he was in is pretty devastated. Lots of places like that this morning I imagine.

(53,950 posts)Most of the changes I saw were gay people themselves. I saw a few remarks about it. I wrote that people changed their profile pics when it was France and Belgium, they should do it now for Orlando.

(851 posts)my atheist friends (including me) rarely post or even visit, and only to share a funny cartoon or serious social vid. It is always the cat ladies, cooks and red neck raging Repugs that fill my page. My gay friends don't post, they skype me face to face.
I conclude that FB is a social experiment. I told my Trump friends to de-friend me, but they have now gotten over trump and are solid Bernie's or Johnson's. If you look carefully at FB friends, does that seem to be the norms?
Of my acquaintances, the religious are like dogs that have to constantly have someone to touch, fearful of change and non religious that constantly tell me they love me.
My atheist friends share , join up for hikes, concerts, but do not demand 24 hr attention. My gay friends love me for my choices in life, do not judge me and make the best roommates. I prefer their company over bias straights.
My rich friends want to know the famous champion that was me, use me and give false concern and friendship, after all, I am a woman, with more knowledge and intelligence but am not wealthy like them so am not invited into their circle.
With your observation Maryellen, I just went to my page and every post has a sad rainbow. I hope that makes you feel better

(1,136 posts)Either the one I have on here now, a rainbow flag at 1/2 mast, the Pulse logo, or something similar. Although, I do ensure that I am only "friends" with people who's posts won't piss me off. Others that friend me that don't fit into that category go into the acquaintance bucket and I rarely see their stuff.

(26,324 posts)More support is trickling in today but yesterday really made me sad.
I posted about the massacre on my feed first thing in the morning and... nothing.
Friend's were posting about their gardens and sports and here I am sitting at home almost in tears.
The first response I got was my partner's freeper sister grinding her ax about the Muslims.
