It ain't new ...blaming the immigrants...It happened after WWI
After World War I...in the early 20s..(it was called the Great War, never thinking there could be another .. ). immigrants were also blamed for the carnage and death which at that time was unmatched in human history immigrants .....So in the United States, we entered a period of isolation, and along with that we got the 1924 Immigration Act..which set quotas on who could come into the United States and when and from what countries..This was totally different than before WWI....(that law is still in effect right now with quotas right now)
In the early 1900s all you needed to gain legal admittance is A) to be able to read a language..B) and to wait and live at Ellis Island for a week or so to prove you did not have tuberculosis ..that is it, and that is how my grandfather and grandmother gained entrance...
The real reason for the carnage of WWI was A) extreme stupidity of European leaders concerning what a war would be..(the 6 - 8 leaders thought it would be over quite quickly like it was 100 years earlier in the Napoleonic Wars...they should have looked to the U.S civil war to see what a long war would be like) B) and entangling set up of secret alliances which obligated a country to go to war if another one went to war..
If the stupid European leaders had known what was in store, there would not have been that particular war/carnage..but......they did not look outside their own limited viewpoint to see what could happen
And after the war the U.S. Congress in its isolation wisdom set up the Immigration Act of 1924 to blame immigrants for the war and the influx of those that came before the war...do not blame the real causes stated above....Yep.."blame the immigrants ain't new."
But we can avoid the same end result, if try to see where the real blame lies..so many guns that anyone can get a machine gun to shoot anyone at anytime. We look beyond the lies to see who really is responsible...When we do, we will find the truth..
