How many times

has an “AR-15-type assault rifle” in the hands of a "good guy" civilian stopped a mass-shooting? My guess: Zero.

1. It's not a "defense" rifle

2. Probably none

Since most gun owners don't tote their AR-15 around, even if permitted by state law.

3. Its likely used for home defense quite often

Or to protect ranchers herds for coyotes and other wildlife.

4. Bit of a catch-22 though, isn't it? If the person were stopped before shooting 4 people..

.. then it wasn't a mass shooting- it doesn't count.

If the person shot 4 or more people, then the gun didn't stop the mass shooting, and doesn't count.

There have been instances of the ar-15 being used in self-defense.
