Much that we see and hear indicates this is so, which means that almost half of American voters are prepped, ready and eager to vote for Trump for president.
I'm not buying it. I just don't believe there are that many deluded/mean-spirited/ignorant haters and bigots in America; People who would actually get out there and cast a vote for this man who seems to be going out of his way to become "evil incarnate," and drag the rest of the country along with him.
Perhaps I'm just having an optimistic day. But I believe that the 24/7 news cycle has turned reality into a horse race between a pretty good runner, and a dead horse. (Trump being the dead horse.) I believe the upcoming election will be a blowout with Trump and his minions tossed into some out-of-the-way graveyard of history.
As I said, perhaps I'm having an optimistic day. To restate my position, I think we're being fed 24/7 horse shit to keep the so-called "news business" in business.
But what do you think? Has America crossed the line between anger and insanity?

(5,946 posts)the rah rah my team winning is more important that ideas. The crush the opposition even if you have to cheat or lie.
it is pervasive in both parties and definitely by the TV ass hole pundits. they cheapen every election by trying to make it foot ball or something.

(17,437 posts)IMO It is uncomfortably close though. Years and years of RW hype and faux issues haven't helped.
I just looked at the RCP averages for the GE. They are not very meaningful yet, but I see under 40% of the people who say they are likely to vote have picked tRump. That's less than half.
I also believe that tRump will lose support as the campaign continues. Blowout, I don't know. An Electoral College blowout is possible because the "deluded/mean-spirited/ignorant haters and bigots" tend to be concentrated in certain areas.
There's work to be done.

(458 posts)I think there are a ton of sexists out there, who still would always choose a man over a woman, every time. Especially in an atmosphere of fear and terror.
And there are still a ton of racists out there, who also fervently support Trump. And don't care what the media says or reports about him, because they think the media is pro-Hillary and lies constantly about Trump...
