(11,076 posts)Our neighbors shoot their automatic guns from time to time. It is very unsettling. They probably have about two acres which is not enough space in my opinion. My opinion doesn't matter. We do go inside when the noise begins but I know that the wall or window is false security!

(70,476 posts).... should be safe. I have hunted and owned guns for years but the gun nuts obsession
w/more guns and more automatic weapons is way over the top.
Some really think that they need to have lots of guns to protect themselves from "big
government."

(11,076 posts)I try to limit my contact with them. The activity seems to correlate with holidays such as July 4th and New Years with a few practice runs in between. If it became more regular I would follow up. I don't want to pick a scab with a guy who has one of those guns. His son had an issue recently with a gun, some threats and some neighbor kids. The comment in the paper read that the the Deputy thought it was harmless and seemed like 'normal kid talk'. Fingers crossed that this special someone graduates High School and moves on. The authorities are aware of the issues.
Thanks for your suggestion! I appreciate your care!

(3,477 posts)Unsafely and without courtesy or respect for neighbors. I grew up on a 100 acre farm where my dad built a private shooting range. We only shot there, never just out the back door or in the woods. Even with such a large buffer between ourselves and our neighbors, we were careful as I learned just how far the sound alone can carry, not to metiion the projectiles.

(11,076 posts)I appreciate your position. I have always been totally freaked out by guns. I never let my son play with toy guns and he and his friends, in their youngest years, immediately built Lego 'guns', ran the house with baby dolls tucked under their arms and laid the babies and guns on the table to stop for a bit of 'tea'. I would shake my head and hope that it would all work out. He is 31 now. He and his friends go to the shooting range. He took the CC class but decided not to carry, has a gun safe for his guns and seems to be a pretty well rounded person. I am evolving because of him. Sadly, in our society, it is best to be able to defend ones self if necessary. Safe travels to you.

(11,076 posts)Her position on the subject will most likely not effect those who would consider voting for her. I can't really say that she has a chance here though. That being said, there is still a group of Hill people that have been hanging on since 2008. They will, work for her here.

(1,057 posts)if you look at your link, you can't buy one, as they are sold out and out of stock.
For that you can thank, in large part, the continued efforts of the anti-gun forces to demonize this type of rifle.
There will be a predictable surge in gun sales in the next month or so. Remington, Colt and other manufacturers thank you for promoting their product.
