He Is Not Running For President, He Is Running For King.

As a teacher it is all too obvious to me.

Bullying is epidemic in this country. Across the nation schools have paid millions after millions of dollars in settlements because bullying is out of control. And as a teacher I know exactly where they are learning this behavior.

If you were born in this country after 1996 you have never lived in a world without FOX TV. There has never been an escape from the constant bullying of the religious right. Even those who would never dream of watching Fox still hear it in waiting rooms, in the background at the airport, that quiet non-stop flow of hatred and bullying. A constant wink-wink-nudge-nudge as they blamed the African Americans, and the Muslims, and the gay people, and the liberals for every woe that has descended on mankind. Got fired for poor performance? It's because of the gay people. Don't have a job? It's because of the Muslims.

We, as a society, have allowed bullies to take over chunks of the media. Talk radio has brought bullying into homes all over the country. Our elected Republicans think nothing of slurring anyone that isn't a white man who goes to their church. Every time an anti-gay law gets passed, that is bullying, just upped to an industrial level. Fox News has allowed hate speech to be cleaned up and shipped out to every corner of the country.

And it has created an atmosphere where a whole segment of the country sees this bullying hatred as nothing more than communication. It's on the tv box so it must be true, it must be acceptable.

And the right kept throwing fuel on the fire. More hatred. More bullying. A racist free-for-all against an African American President. And in that volatile mix of hate, anger and twisted religious ideology a monster has been created. Not a green Frankenstein monster, but an orange monster with the heart of a madman and the blackend soul of a narcissist who wallows in the hatred bred by Fox News.

You see, as Fox piled on bully-after-bully Donald Trump rose to the top of the stinking heap. He is not running to be Presidident. He is running to be King. King of the Bullies.

Seriously, while Scott Adams of Dilbert strip fame is more than a bit of an asshole, I think he has correctly identified that Trump is very skillfully and mindfully using hypnotic and propagandistic persuasion techniques as his primary weapon. He is unlike any candidate we have ever seen because he using those techniques exclusively, with total disregard for facts or consistency, and the thing is it's been working. He is exploiting the fact that, on the whole, people aren't rational and respond to certain emotionally resonant cues and prompts consistently.

On the one hand you can't really read anything real into anything he has said, because he has said only what he thinks will create a bonding emotional reaction among Republican primary voters. On the other hand that means we don't have any fucking clue at all how he would govern, because he hasn't been telling us anything real, just jerking our chains.

For whatever reason, maybe just another notch on his belt, he decided this was for him and that he could treat it like he treats every other transaction. The guy is a nightmare.

But that thing about a conversation with Bill Clinton? If true, I always had this image of Trump bringing it up in his self-aggrandizing way, and the Big Dog laughing and saying, Sure, go ahead. Figuring it couldn't possibly come to pass.

Just like the rest of us. SMH

He may have been bragging to a friend or acquaintance about how he knows how to get followers because he knows what they want to hear and the other person maybe scoffed or laughed at him and The Donald then argued that he would prove it by running for President. At which time the bet was on.

The fact that he's simultaneously exploding and imploding right now shows he didn't know what he was really getting into. I think he may be regretting his total conceit, not because he's losing, because he isn't losing, but because suddenly he has no privacy and it's beginning to dawn on him what that actually means. All his nefarious past actions will be scrutinized now. Every word he utters will be spliced, diced and ground down to the last letter and too many people are going to see who and what he really is. That and the fact that he simply can't punish anyone, not even the media who have taken him on after he insulted them.

The strict father logic extends further. The basic idea is that authority is justified by morality (the strict father version), and that, in a well-ordered world, there should be (and traditionally has been) a moral hierarchy in which those who have traditionally dominated should dominate. The hierarchy is: God above Man, Man above Nature, The Disciplined (Strong) above the Undisciplined (Weak), The Rich above the Poor, Employers above Employees, Adults above Children, Western culture above other cultures, Our Country above other countries. The hierarchy extends to: Men above women, Whites above Non-whites, Christians above non-Christians, Straights above Gays.

There are at least tens of millions of conservatives in America who share strict father morality and its moral hierarchy. Many of them are poor or middle class and many are white men who see themselves as superior to immigrants, non-whites, women, non-Christians, gays — and people who rely on public assistance. In other words, they are what liberals would call “bigots.”

Donald Trump expresses out loud everything they feel — with force, aggression, anger, and no shame. All they have to do is support and vote for Trump and they don’t even have to express their ‘politically incorrect’ views, since he does it for them and his victories make those views respectable. He is their champion. He gives them a sense of self-respect, authority, and the possibility of power. Whenever you hear the words “political correctness” remember this.

The shock jocks, as they used to be called when it was still shocking to listen to their hate filled spewing, have beat that drum for more than 2 decades.

But I would add that once the viewers and listeners of this hatred were fuming their resentments into hot flames along came Sara Palin and threw the doors open for them to emerge from their dark hovels and closets. They are what she branded as "real Murikans!"

And one of the things they don't every allow is one of their leaders to back down from the vicious hatred. Anyone who gets their support is never allowed to move back to the middle. And this is Trump's problem. He can't become "Presidential" because they won't let him. This is also the problem that so many Congresspeople have. Their base are vicious to them if they try to be moderate.

Limbaugh, Hannity, Ann Coulter and their ilk have done their job very well.

Militarism plays a YUUUGE role, worshipping uniforms & weaponry, constantly
being reminded that "good guys finish last" .. it's so sad really, that this kind
of deadly nonsense seems to prevail all-too-often over the truth and power of
love, kindness and forgiveness.

And Trump is a bully's wet-dream candidate.
