2. It looks like a great dog.

I'm not interpreting "Please, get me out".

I'm interpreting "Hey, you gonna eat that? Or are you going to toss it to me?"

4. When a dog licks his lips like that it can be a sign of anxiety

and, coupled with his frozen posture, I think he is very stressed out.

This isn't a funny picture at all. It's sad.

15. It's not sad at all

That dog is not stressed, he's focused. Chesapeake's are a hunting breed. He is waiting for the ball to be thrown so he can retrieve it, it's what they do. Watch a hunting dog on point sometime, they lock up and stay absolutely still until the bird flushes, it's not due to stress or anxiety, it's how they are wired.

Good dog!

8. According to our local news, the photographer was holding up a tennis ball

and the Chesapeake Bay retriever wouldn't move until the ball was thrown.

11. Yep, our black lab was the same and would twitch with anticipation, but wouldn't move.

But with dogs.

16. Lots of interpretation here........

I just love how they're all having such a great time.......and I'm leaning toward, his owner is holding the "item" in the air and he's just getting set to go after it. Great video. Thanks for sharing.

17. That's a retriever on a mission. "Throwitthrowitthrowitthrowit!"

Our Golden of years past, Joe, would scare the life out of me trying to get not only his ball but every one in the slough we used to take him to.He'd swim and swim and swim, grabbing and herding and snorting. But he was having the time of his life and the water wasn't so deep we couldn't get him out if he needed it, which of course he never did.

20. Weimaraner? Dog is focused on owner.

There are dogs like that.

It's not that he is socially awkward, it's that he has a different set of priorities than a golden retriever or lab.

You know, I clicked on this thread worried about you from the title.
