OTTAWA — A defendant in last Thursday’s Putnam Count Court system said he was there unlawfully, claiming he is mischaracterized as a U.S. Citizen and that the violations he is charged with do not apply to him.

Logan Pothast, Toledo, a former Ottawa resident, said he is an American National and that the court does not have jurisdiction over him. He is charged on two counts of possession of drugs, a felony of the fifth degree. The charge alleges that Pothast was found with drugs on him in the parking lot at Ottawa-Glandorf High School ...

Pothast said he planned to sue the county $1,000 silver dollars for each minute he has “unlawfully” had to spend in jail. “This court is going to pay full restitution to me,” Pothast told the judge. “Everyone in this courtroom is completely oblivious to the constitution,” he said looking at the spectators and law officials.

During the proceedings Charmaine Bassett, Toledo, kept speaking to Pothast and giving him advice from the spectator section. Judge Basinger ordered quiet and ordered her not to speak ...
