Casualties of the Syrian Civil War

I heard Richard Engle say 400,000 dead was one reason these diplomats were sending the dissention memo, so I looked it up. Yes, that number surprised me.

Estimates of deaths in the Syrian Civil War, per opposition activist groups, vary between 155,587[1] and 402,819.[2] On 23 April 2016, the United Nations and Arab League Envoy to Syria put out an estimate of 400,000 that had died in the war.[3]
