*Sling shots* *Compound Bows* *Switch blades*

all of those are regulated.

Pepper spray and tasers, too.

There are 800 different ways to kill you that are regulated the hell out of, but because it's a gun, you don't?

I swear this country has lost its damn mind.

To take animals while hunting, the state gives you permission through a license to kill designated game animals.

A person is guilty of criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree when:

or she possesses any firearm, electronic dart gun, electronic stun gun, gravity knife, switchblade knife, pilum ballistic knife, metal knuckle knife, cane sword, billy, blackjack, bludgeon, plastic knuckles, metal knuckles, chuka stick, sand bag, sandclub, wrist-brace type slingshot or slungshot, shirken or “Kung Fu star”; ?

Can you link an example of someone being arrested for possession of anyone one of the things?

I certainly have all of them, somewhere. In a box in the attic, old trunk in the barn ... somewhere, I promise.

Ohh and I was born and raised in NY and my uncle now owns my grandmothers house and I promise you there is plenty of that old stuff there, somewhere, as well.

These items are now illegal to sell, but possession, surely not.

and many states have age restrictions. It pays to check your laws before purchasing pepper spray for self defense.

Interestingly I discovered several states require you to have a concealed weapon permit to carry a slingshot concealed. 32 states allow some form of hunting with slingshots.

I think your OP is overly broad however is does highlight some incongruities where less-lethal weapons are over-regulated compared to more lethal weapons. It would be generally expected to see an increasing set of restrictions as the weapons become more lethal or at least more able to be used offensively but that is not always the case.

Sat Jun 18, 2016, 02:12 AM

as we saw in the presidential campaign. We have had NRA talking points about immunity for gun corporations passed off as "progressive." The Democrats that do care about it are lambasted as "establishment," whereas someone who votes against the Brady Bill, for arms on Amtrack, in national parks, in cockpits, and endless other pro-gun legislation is held up as superior to all other politicians. As long as people refuse to prioritize gun control, this is the situation we get.
