Trump is stoked: Going to profit from his campaign, bigley.

Per Chris Matthews yesterday, the Koch brothers announced they would not be supporting Trump, but sent a representative to meet with Trump in NY anyway. And, Trump announced plan to travel to Nevada to meet with Adelson. IMO These point to a serious behind the scenes long game wherein Trump makes a boatload of money and the GOP gets a better candidate.

The GOP will be able to nominate someone who didn't win the GOP primaries (frankly, that's the only way a gop nominee will win the general election). Trump won't be the nominee. He's going to quit, just after he:

...drives his unfavorables so high he can't win, and in the process makes any other potential gop nominee look like a savior

...raises no money, spends no money on a general election campaign. Josh Marshall suggests he's not even mounting a campaign, with just 30 staffers nationwide. Why? The less money he spends, the more money he makes.

...acts as a 24/7 distraction so that dems and Hillary focus on him rather than on really poor gop policies over the last 40 years. She should really be talking about broad themes, not Trump

...inks a deal with the RNC, Adelson, the Kochs, and maybe Romney to drop out. 500 million. He avoids losing. He makes tons of money. He gets over on EVERYBODY, dems and pugs, which is the only thing he really cares about. If he drops out, he wins. Only a handful of people need to know about it

...just after he sees that he can claim that the RNC has screwed him, justifying that he can quit. He won't say the reason he's quitting is because he's going to lose, he'll say he quit because he's not going to continue make a Huge sacrifice in time and money for a party that doesn't support him. And more and more goprs clearly have gotten a signal that it's OK to criticize Trump...something formerly forbidden since Reagan. The signal was given because it's essential that it be clear Trump doesn't have full GOP support.

No one who wants to win acts as he does.

He's a Trojan Horse....he's a false front....He's going to fake his own political death in order to profit enormously when the gop either buys him out or he sues their asses off. There's no way he stays in, facing 70% disapproval and certain defeat. He doesn't have the character required to risk that. 500 million is nothing for the gop, to stave off not only a presidential loss but defeats up and down the ballot. Won't happen.

This will be his greatest con. One for the history books.

Does he even want to be president? Does he wants the glory, money, shame? There are some who say he wants to start his own TV news network, maybe that is true? I would never watch it myself, but I know there are those who will. Whatever he is trying to do, it has made the GOP look silly and I guess that worth is all?

Or something like that. He can't quit. His ego can't take that. And if he says the party drove him out, his voters stay home.

He would need an excuse that gives his voter permission to vote for the party's choice.

His ego can take quitting....if he profits. His ego can't take losing...especially if he also loses money in the process!

against the gop in general. Their record, their positions, their on the record statements...are heinous. Easy to make the case that the gop can't govern and will do much more harm than good, except wrt the top 1%. Fine to tie trump to the long history of polarization, hate, idiocy, and lies. That's necessary. Trump is the culmination of 40 years of low politics, poor public discourse, and media failings. But the root of it is the gop. But don't focus on a candidate who may or may not be there in November
