I keep seeing posts that Trump or posters here think someone should have had a gun@ Pulse THEY DID

Gruler, a 15-year veteran of the Orlando Police Department, was at the club, in uniform, working security. He traded gunfire with Mateen before the gunman made his way further into the club. That’s according to the Orlando Police Department.
OPD statement, June 12: On June 12, 2016, just after 2 a.m., an Orlando Police Officer working extra duty at the Pulse Nightclub, located at 1912 S. Orange Ave., responded to shots fired. Our officer engaged in a gun battle with that suspect and the suspect went deeper into the club where more shots were fired. The incident then turned into a hostage situation.

Donald Trump said there were “no guns on the other side” in the mass shooting in Orlando and there would’ve been fewer deaths “if the bullets were going in the other direction, aimed at the guy who was just in open target practice.” But at least one person at the club fired at the shooter.
Adam Gruler, an Orlando police officer working security for Pulse nightclub that night, traded gunshots with the gunman, Omar Mateen, near the club’s entrance.
Trump, the presumptive GOP nominee for president, made his claim during a campaign rally in Atlanta on June 15. He said the U.S. needs to accept immigrants who “don’t want to destroy us, that don’t want to go to a club where you have innocent people, and where you had no guns on the other side.” He said that someone at the club shooting back at Mateen could have prevented at least some of the deaths of the 49

Remember how police shot NINE bystanders at the Empire State Building?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2012_Empire_State_Building_shooting

Ronald Reagan was surrounded by well armed and well trained Secret Service agents. He and three other people still got shot.

Bad guys shoot first.

Using a gun for "Self Defense" is a sick fantasy. In ordinary civilian life anyone who believes the "self defense" argument has imaginary bad guys rattling around in their heads. God forbid they ever meet actual bad guys. It's likely those won't look anything like the bad guys of their imagination. It may be an angry lover, a fellow gun fetishist, or the guy in the mirror.

The gun lovers celebrate the rare stories where the "good guy won" from the stories where guns just made everything worse, which is usually the case, even in the stories the gun lovers like to tell.

The realities of gun violence are nothing like television or movie fantasies. There is no plot, shit just happens. Once the guns come out, everything is FUBAR.

What the security guard proved is that in the heat of a shootout, not everyone is Dirty Harry cool and marksman-like. When bullets are flying (and ricocheting), those bullets (no matter whose gun they're from) don't have TIME to stop and think whether they're gonna hit the intended target or some bystander.

We don't know how many got shot during their brief gun battle. The shooter used the crowd to evade, later took hostages.

They should have a good timeline once witnesses are fully questions.

what America really needs is Bubba the untrained undisciplined idiot to have an open carry long rifle plus a concealed carry handgun on his person at all times dancing in a late night dance club while drunk on alcohol...just in case.

This is the gun humper fantasy. They have wet dreams about pulling out their gun and shooting a mass shooter dead while nobody shoots the good guy with the gun because its easy to tell who is good and bad in a dark night club.

The owner pulled his pistol but by that time an old lady thwarted the shooter with her bare hands. The crowd convinced the gun owner to holster his fire arm to avoid police confusing him as the shooter.

Just what is needed a bunch of movie going self deluded armed amateurs. Now that I have to use a cane I would be willing to help out and I have been trained, I guarantee bystanders will not be shot by my cane.
