Cruz's campaign manager "acting to save Republican Party from disaster," says Cruz is not involved

Republican convention delegates and operatives are creating a long-shot movement to change party rules so the convention can choose someone other than Donald Trump to run for president.

According to the Associated Press, more congressional Republicans are not endorsing Trump and are planning to skip the convention in Cleveland next month altogether. Rep. Duncan Hunter, R-Calif., one of Trump’s top House backers, says his support among lawmakers “has stalled.”

"We're acting to save the Republican Party from imminent disaster," said Steve Lonegan, who chaired Sen. Ted Cruz's New Jersey campaign and is helping organize an effort to let delegates chosen to back one candidate vote instead for another.

Lonegan says Cruz is not involved in the effort.

But it is not. Trump represents a large number of their base. This is not the will of the lawmakers. This is the will of their own people--that they created. You can't spend decades growing intolerance, racism, xenophobia, etc without it coming back and biting you in the ass. It is not just about Trump. If they think the likes of Cruz will save them, then it is no wonder they are in their current quandary. They have no fucking clue and are destined for their upcoming demise.

Luckily for the country, there is a greater number of rational, decent human beings that will prevail. So, to the GOP, I bid you farewell. You deserve to completely fracture as you are incompatible with human decency. Good riddence!

They say this is going to be a watershed election year like no other. I can see that. This has already BEEN an amazing election year and we have yet to begin.

How would a guy like Cruz, who mistakenly felt that God himself had called him to do this, not hold up the delegates he won and not say "I came in second behind Trump?"

It's just one more variation of the Paul Ryan "No, I don't want that job" tactic.
