(149,748 posts)It was interesting in the new format.
Wish I could find out the outcome.

(15,812 posts)I like the new format - it takes away a good deal of context but it gives you a few more choices. All in all, I think I like it better.
I knew what thread the alert was from because I'd read it earlier but moved on to read another forum. When I returned to the thread after weighing in as a juror, I noted that the post was removed. And I couldn't tell from the thread who the author was. I like all of that about this new system. It strikes me as moving towards a new sense of fairness.

(2,550 posts)I like the old jury better.
It was fun.
This one is....arms length and cold feeling.

(6,122 posts)Didn't feel like I had enough context.
One of mine was for a thread from yesterday that I had remembered.
Was an alert for something barely any reason. It looked like someone had gone back and alerted on posts done under the old system, still trying to settle scores.

ETA: LOL, I guess I was wrong because when I clicked to post this, I was immediately asked to participate in jury duty. Wonder why I had that impression?

(6,279 posts)That was proposed, limiting juries to star folks, but at the last minute they changed their minds.

(12,448 posts)I like the new format; it eliminates a lot of biases. I understand people want to comment, but most comments devolved into nasty sniping. (I was guilty of that myself at times.)

(7,585 posts)nothing under new system but understand jurors now do not see the results...what is the sense of being on a jury and not knowing the end result? Seems like a waste of time.

The old system could be fun; the new, not so much.
Lancero
(3,016 posts)The new system doesn't.
Given how many people here are against 'zero tolerance' rules and the like, it's odd to see so many people being happy about the site switching to a zero tolerance ruling system.
I suppose though that we have leeway in alerting on the post though, which is a good thing for this topic since quite a few posts here are going against the 'no posting about site moderation' rule.

progree
(10,929 posts)simple. I also found the result - I did a google search immediately after and found it in the Google cache.
The second one was a bit smoggy. I felt if I had a little more context, I would have been able to make a better decision (I think I made the wrong decision about a minute after I voted after I had mulled it over a bit). In the old system, I often learned something by reading up and down the subthread that affected my vote.
I couldn't find this second one in Google. I sure miss not getting the results. And I miss not reading the reasons -- oftentimes I learned something too from them. (Like, oops, I didn't know that, shoot, I voted the wrong way. Or someone simply stated a reason much more clearly than what was in my brain).
Duckhunter935
(16,974 posts)Interesting, easy choice. Post was removed as I knew the thread to check.
ChazII
(6,206 posts)in a manner more eloquent than I would have been able to express. I liked being able to get more information by reading the thread if more information was required. As in a real jury, the jurors are allowed to ask questions - at least here in Maricopa County.

(28,394 posts)I think they lack context. Without the information from the alerter, I had no way of knowing if the post was inappropriate, without doing some research. Who has time for that?
Also, I pity whoever has the job of selecting the relevant discussion and replies. Who has time for that?!

(16,974 posts)They were hidden way before the OP and do not make a difference. Nice of him to care about me to check my profile. I actually think it is because I believe in the RKBA and he does not like that. That is why he is going through old posts looking for posts ......

I like the new jury system, EXCEPT I'd like a way of knowing the results. Not just becuase of curiosity, but to see if I am in synch with how my fellow DUers are interpreting the rules. I am sometimes annoyed I don't have enough context, but I understand that they are attempting to limit how factionalization affects the system.

(4,462 posts)Not seeing names makes sense, although that never mattered to me with the old way. However, I would rather have the old black and white decision choices, without the shades of gray. I would like to see the alerter's comments about why they think a rule was broken, again names aren't necessary. I feel jurors should likewise also be able to comment. And I feel jurors should be allowed to see the results and comments of their fellow jurors. If the admins feel that posting results creates too much drama, they could institute a rule about that, with severe penalties if broken.
