PG&E to shut down Diablo Canyon Nuclear Power Plant

2. Big money has apparently decided we're all toast and it's time to party on with filthy fossil fuels.

I'd normally celebrate the shutdown of Diablo Canyon, I was there protesting it at the beginning, and not far away from Jerry Brown when he proclaimed "No more new nukes," but the gas industry with it's window dressing of solar and wind power is something worse than nuclear power.

I'm not looking forward to more toxins in the groundwater as the gas industry fracks the hell out of existing gas fields which are already a toxic, leaky, nightmares that will never be cleaned up.

"Natural" gas ain't natural, and it ain't clean. Just because a toxin doesn't come from a nuclear plant doesn't make it any less deadly.

3. Diablo Canyon nuclear power plant will be closed in 2025....

after the licenses for its reactors expire, PG&E announced Tuesday.
