I friended a bunch of family (not close) friends with out thinking about how they're right wingers. Now all I get in my goddamn feed is pro tRump shit!

(135,425 posts)that will make that stuff go away.
I have a relative who loves animals--I love animals too, but I don't like seeing "Send a donation" posts with photos of abused animals constantly and this relative would constantly forward that crap. I fiddled w/the settings to get rid of it.

If it's really bad, unfriend them

(38,613 posts)If there is a way to tell if your post appears on someone's timeline, I'm not aware of it. I unfollow damn near every high-school former classmate that friended me, but they still see my stuff and occasionally comment

(19,558 posts)It's the secret, polite way to manage things like this.
Unlike unfriendimg them.

(111,166 posts)There's a widget on Chrome to remove tRump from Farcebook.
If I had a Farcebook account, I'd be using it on Chrome for the duration for just this reason.

(6,496 posts)It has text filter option that you can use to auto-hide any posts from your feed with certain words in it. You can hide Donald Trump but also anything else you don't want to see with it. I use it to hide political and religious posts that I don't want to see. Works great for me. I normally check facebook on my chromebook. Of course, it won't do you any good if you use a different browser or different machine to check facebook than the one you installed it on.

(26,251 posts)I had friended some people from my (far too long ago) past, and didn't realize they had developed lunacy. So rather than just unfriending them, I put them on the restricted list. They still show up as friends but never see what I post, and I never see what they post but the exist under the delusion that we are still 'friends'.

(54,770 posts)crud on me. I make sure to post rebuttals to them and the white wing site it came from, like Hannity, Brietbart, various "patriot"/militia sites, etc. The next high school reunion should be a war, should I decide to go which is unlikely.

(11,757 posts)The one I unfriended was a friend of a friend. I was wondering why my news feed was suddenly filled with negative shit... it was her toxicity oozing into my feed. Gone. Done. Life's too short to waste your time on energy vampires.

(1,725 posts)I have gone to certain people's Facebook page and unfollowed them. I don't have to worry about them getting all insulted that I unfriended them and they think I'm still seeing their witty crap.

(10,162 posts)Unfollow for now and stay friends. I just had to unfriend several high school friends from 50 years ago for trolling me with right wing shit and alerting my posts if I said anything against Trump. I've gotten banned twice recently because of them. No loss at this point.

(21,506 posts)They are insidious and track you if you let them far more closely than any NSA. People seem horrified by the NSA yet will give their entire lives to facebook. Every like you do is recorded and categorized for future references forget about all the content in the posts you make and all the replies within those posts.
I just feel like if you don't like the NSA you should be horrified by facebook.
I get it is fun to keep up with friends and family but holy crap...and then sometimes it isn't even fun cause you get feeds full of trump garbage.

(51,129 posts)and I have to unfollow them or the newsfeed is simply intolerable. It is good to know what they are up to and see the latest lies. Wow, blatant lying sure isn't on their taboo list. I'm related to some people that must have had lead in their schools, no easier way to say it.

I just don't bother commenting on any site that uses FB.
My local rag switched to FB and the next thing I knew they had sent a msg questioning my existence. FB wanted me to send a copy of my DL to prove my identity.
Not a chance.

(7,107 posts)It really doesn't bother me. Sometimes I correct a post or lie if it's too egregious. Otherwise, what the hell.
I'm not going through life living in a bubble or "safe zone". I'm a grown up, and I can handle it.

(1,621 posts)I have family on both sides posting political stuff, many who avoid politics altogether. I prefer to see everything and stay tuned in to what's being said and thought about whether I agree or not.

(37,748 posts)You equate a benign and passive avoidance of frustrating idiocy on Facebook as "living life in a bubble?"
FLPanhandle
(7,107 posts)Going through life actively avoiding ideas/thoughts/people that you disagree with or annoy you is, by definition, living in a bubble.
