So you watched the speech. You made comments on what an asshole he is, but . . . .

. . . . did Trump make any headway to help his campaign?

Hopefully, this post will elicit honest answers, not hyperbole.

My own opinion is he didn't help himself very much electorally, but may have made some GOPeers feel better about him, which in the long run, could help him.

1. He succeeded in distracting the 'news cycle' from the "Trump Campaign Is Broke" narrative.

Which is probably all he could hope for...

Marco Rubio is stealing his thunder.

2. In that the media is acting like those were his words and ideas, yes.

He switched from one prompter to the other pretty well. He pronounced all the words correctly. He only bobbled when he couldn't read far enough ahead to know when and how the sentence was going to end.

The GOP is doubtless saying to themselves.. "Yes,yes.. that's good enough to fool enough people"

You do the math.

5. What? Trump is hyperbole.

Seriously: the guy has a low bar. He completes a sentence without offending a new minority group and it is a success. It gives the media a chance to pretend that he actually wrote, said, believes those words. It is all a hyperbolic joke.

didn't note his saying anything that could rattle the already rattled GOP establishment and may even have reassured some of them.

I also think major donors will not be giving much to his campaign.

8. This is why it is good to keep Hillary on message of what she will do.

This morning a feed that popped up for me was about Hillary and the economy. It encouraged me to look and read more about her ideas. I wouldn't have looked at a link that was name calling or down dirt. She can reach people if she meets them at a higher vibration. I hope she can distance herself from the carnival that is D. trump.

11. His appeal to Sanders' voters did not win him any new voters.

though he hit the "rigged" and "TPP" talking point.

He gave no indication that he understands the concept of income inequality.

He did not define what a "better deal" would be. Just saying it would benefit American Workers. His treatment of workers in his own companies and businesses does not inspire anyone to think the care about workers.

Otherwise, his appeals were to the Republican Party and highlight his failure to unite Republicans under him. At this point, he is trying to use Clinton to draw Republicans together in the face of a continuing effort to make sure he is not the nominee after their Convention.
