C-SPAN Fights Back Against Paul Ryan Blackout And Shows Live Video of Democratic Protest
By Jason Easley on Wed, Jun 22nd, 2016 at 3:32 pm
Speaker of the House Paul Ryan turned off C-SPANs cameras, but he was not able to stop the network from broadcasting video of the Democratic protest that has shut down the House of Representatives that is being shot by Rep. Scott Peters and shown on Periscope.
C-SPANs broadcast of the Democratic live stream contains a hint of their displeasure over Speaker Ryans decision to turn off the cameras:
snip//
Speaker Ryan made a huge mistake by trying to black out the protest. As soon as Ryan turned off C-SPANs cameras on the House floor, interest in the protest grew exponentially. Democrats on the House floor are hearing that Republicans are getting nervous about the protest, but they are afraid to give in. Republicans fear that giving in for the Democrats demand for a vote on gun control would lead to more problems for them later.
The idea of doing what the vast majority of Americans support doesnt enter into the minds of House Republicans. The Republicans arent going to allow a vote on common sense gun legislation. It doesnt matter what the American people want. The attitude of putting the NRA first, and the American people last is why Democrats have shut down the House, and it is also why Republicans deserve to be tossed out of the majority in November.

Why are they employing FASCIST techniques to try and keep Americans stupid about what is going on?

(11,589 posts)This it historic to me.
The people's house is being occupied by our Party. I am in tears and filled with pride today.
The GOP might have finally pushed too hard. The house GOP tried to block C-Spans coverage of the house sit in, but They can't block Facebooks live feed.
Has this ever happened before?

Thinking about another project
How the hell are they gonna make it
Anyway nobody's gonna object
Even if they make shit
Now you better get wise
Lasers passing through the sky
For me there's no alternative
This sphere is a bad place to live
Growing technology
Fooling technology
Killing technology!!!
The star wars have started up
The new invention is coming out
Making a spider web over the atmosphere
To make them sure that we can't get out of here
Computers controlling your functions
Seems like we got electronic alienation
Trading children for a new kind of robot
Waiting for the old people to disappear
Growing technology
Fooling technology
Killing technology!!!
Use the killing technology
How can I destroy the enemy
Security plans are not easy to find
That's my generation, the nonsense time
You lose your function
You're just a substitute
You lose your function
Glad to see you change
You've got automatic moves
Take your pills to have energy
And sit down in your robotic living room
People are gonna progress
Who knows whether we'll get more or less
Some say it's the beginning of the end
Some say they've got our lives in their hands
Growing technology
Fooling technology
Killing technology!!!
Look at the chaos, how much does it cost
The circuits gleam
Push this buttom, memory runs
You're gonna pay for this
Ready or not, ready or not !!!
Tomorrow is the fear
The fear will come from the sky, from behind!
Tomorrow disappears
The fear will come from the sky, from behind!
Tomorrow is the fear
The fear will come from the sky, from behind!

Let's see if Ryan responds the way McConnell has.

Whether it's the NRA or you name it.
Having to take them seriously is the least offensive aspect of their mentality.

Between the Trump embarrassment, this embarrassment, and whatever else might happen over the summer, they're in for a rocky road to the election.
This is even worse than Issa shutting off the microphones and lights on the same Congressman, John Lewis.

(8,755 posts)If they conceded to a vote now, no matter how small the vote is, no matter how bad it loses on the floor, a vote is a vote. Its a crack of light to the door that John Lewis is clawing open right now.
The flip side is, if they don't vote, they look like frigging fools going into a bad election season for the GOP. They have more seats to defend and Trump is a steaming pile of shit that nobody wants to touch.
Keep clawing that door open Rep. Lewis! You da man!

(12,448 posts)Chris Van Hollen, remarks on the sit-in and demanding votes on gun safety legislation, (in part):
I am proud to stand here and to sit here with our colleagues from the great House of Representatives. But I am ashamed of the fact that this House of Representatives has remained silent and done nothing in the face of carnage around this country.
After Aurora, what did this House do? Moment of silence.
After Oak Creek, what did this House do? Moment of silence.
After Newtown, what did this House do? Moment of silence.
After Charleston? Moment of silence.
After Orlando? Moment of silence.
And all the carnage in between, and before, and the carnage that goes on daily in our neighborhoods and our streets? Moment of silence.
We have learned from history that silence in the face of injustice makes this House complicit in that injustice. It makes us complicit in the carnage that goes on. It makes us responsible for lives taken when we know there are actions we can take to save lives.
We know these common sense measures will protect the lives of the American people. Will they save everybody? No. will they reduce the heartache and the death toll? Yes they will.
I am so proud of him, and all the Democrats who participated in the sit-in.
