Question for my friends..

Would it be politically incorrect if President Obama showed up just to show support?

I can’t imagine that a visit from POTUS wouldn't be anything but helpful..

Keep in mind, I think a quick thank you would suffice.. No more..

It's an action by members of Congress - probably not illegal or anything for the Pres to show up but would tread a bit on the whole separation of powers thing.

First, I support what's going on, but you must realize that the Republicans are just as likely to do a similar thing for defunding Planned Parenthood or other nutjobbery in the future.

But, IMHO, the President showing up would not be good optics or precedent. Having the President be a participant in disrupting regular order of the House is something of a Separation of Powers issue.

Next year, should something awful happen, would you want a minority of the House to be joined by Il Douche in shutting down the business of the House.

Choosing to act on principle is fine, as long as you are right. However, most people believe they are.

But imagine our nutty friends going on about "Obama takes over House to demand gun confiscation!" That sort of talk will definitely cause a few to engage in unwise actions.

He could show up without causing too many "unconstitutional!" shrieks of faux outrage.

It will be interesting to see how this is reported on broadcast news, if at all.

It looks like an attempted coup against the NRA more than anything else.

I think tradition, protocol and considerations of separation of powers prevent his strolling into Congress uninvited. Think about the reverse--members of Congress dropping in at the Oval Office with no invitation.

I expect a press release of some kind, one of those thoughtful responses he is rightfully famous for.

But visiting the House uninvited is a bit dicey.

He's tweeted solidarity with Rep Lewis. I think him showing up would take the attention away from the house members and the organic nature of this.

Paul Ryan is incompetent. McConnell is so worthless he can't even get a member of SCOTUS seated.

IE Republicans aren't doing anything at all - at least our party is showing up and demanding the others do their job.

Defiance. It's beautiful!
