In the article, Craig is called "the Tomato Savior". A wonderful article and some excellent recipes.

For those of you who do not know, Craig is the author of "Epic Tomatoes: How to Select and Grow the Best Varieties of All Time" and is the tomato advisor to the Seed Saver Exchange.

And that's true love and homegrown tomatoes!"
My personal choice are cherry tomatoes which I harvest and devour about every other day. They are not quite ready yet. But when they start ripening, I will have cherry tomatoes until the fall.

(61,698 posts)Kinda funny - I knew they did a photoshoot for this last summer - and our local newspaper food writer worked on the article...but I've not seen the article yet (I expect they will send me a few copies).
So - no idea how it came out or what it looks like. It's been a pretty wild last year and a half. Feeling like a really lucky fella. Last comment - I love the talks, workshops, gardening, blogging, writing - not terribly comfy with publicity - or having attention on me.
Sorting out what books 3 and 4 will be - fall writing projects.
thanks again!

He also sent me some plants once, and the sun gold's burst out in such quantity that you wouldn't believe.
God, the full sized tomatoes, a red, were delicious.
But ... do not ever pass up an opportunity to grow, eat, horde or otherwise obtain the Lucky Cross tomato variant.

There is nothing, nothing better than a home grown tomato. My biggest problem is I tend to grab the green ones to fry...........
