(20,450 posts)Enacting a guaranteed minimum income requires Congress to pass it. This Congress won't even vote on a Supreme Court nominee; they are certainly not passing a GMI.

(58,785 posts)us a guaranteed income. If understanding why simply can't come, maybe just go for acceptance of what is? We're at least a few presidencies away from even being able to discuss the possibility as a nation.

(3,811 posts)Sure, you're free to assert that President Obama "wants" to keep wages low for working people -- and I'm free to call bullshit.
The American Recovery Act did NOT in any way, shape, or form, give "a trillion dollars to big corporations." That's wildly untrue. The money went a lot of places, infrastructure projects, consumer energy efficiency incentives, state agencies, non-profit grants, etc.
And when exactly was an offer made to start mailing out government checks to every person in America that President Obama "refused"? No such offer or proposal was made, nor will one be made anytime soon. The political support is virtually non-existent.

(64,010 posts)When Pres Obama tried to boost it, the Repubs cut the legs from it and reduced it by nearly half. Blaming the Pres for not delivering your pony when he has been obstructed in every thing he has tried to do by a Repub party that puts party policy above the public good.
Not sure your post meets board guidelines. Enjoy your stay.

(5,390 posts)It addresses those that are already here working and contributing to our economy.
If you take them out of the shadows, you will enable them to pay into the system.
It may also give them the ability to join a union without fear of deportation. This could lead to higher wages,
I repeat they are already here working and contributing to our economy.

(13,340 posts)Do you honestly think Obama could "give" us a guaranteed income if he chose too?
This OP sucks.
