My vote, I didnt think was going to matter too much because I thought we were just going to Remain, and the David Cameron resignation has blown me away to be honest.
I think the period of uncertainty that were going to have for the next couple of months, thats just been magnified now.
So yeah, quite worried."

Just to be clear here, this man had as much say in the referendum as you and everyone else who cast a vote.

In totally unrelated news, a petition for a redo of the referendum has gained MASSIVE support.

(35,309 posts)Many say they like direct democracy.
They do, but only when their side wins. That's a tough thing for most to admit. So they don't. They live with the double-think.
I was in Calif. for Prop 109, a great example of direct democracy. When it passed, a lot of progressives had nothing but contempt for voters. Until the next ballot measure they wanted passed.
It's the same with "majority rule." People love it unless they're in the minority. Then we luvs us some "liberal democracy" (which is to say, constrained democracy with due regard to minority opinion--it may have been and may still be imperfect, but when you squelch the minority you show you really hate diversity of thought and speech, and like ramming your views down somebody else's throat). But if something passes 51-49%, it's ironclad and the minority have to take it where it hurts.
