It’s Official — Bernie Sanders Is Staying In The Race And Will Not Concede

Contrary to the conventional wisdom saying that Bernie Sanders would never have been able to force a contested Democratic convention, Hillary Clinton has less than 2,383 pledged delegates. Thus, Bernie Sanders has recently confirmed his desire to continue, as stated by Time:

Bernie Sanders Vows to Continue ‘Political Revolution’ in New York

But that did not stop the Vermont Senator from defiantly promising to continue the political revolution in a town hall on Thursday, giving a glimpse into his possible future role in the Democratic Party in which he campaigns for progressive candidates across the country.

Speaking with the cadence and conviction of a viable candidate in midtown Manhattan, Sanders again did not concede the nomination…and did not endorse his opponent.

There are many things that could happen, there could be a brokered convention, a contested convention, or as it is sometimes referred to an open convention.

"If we open a quarrel between the present and the past, we shall be in danger of losing the future." - Winston Churchill

13. And, you must have read or heard what else he said, so you know the context. But they leave it out.

Because those two things are not mutually exclusive. What seems to be happening is people are interpreting what was said to match their own wishes instead of listening to Bernie.

18. A safe assumption, unless you know my habits.

Often, I have the TV on when I am doing six other things, some of which require that I leave the room in which the TV is on. So, I often hear a snippet without hearing what came before or after. This I heard on Morning Joe, pretty much in isolation. Sorry!

14. You mean, he did not concede today by saying, "I concede" because he already conceded.

What is missing here is posting what Bernie actually said. What we have presented twists the truth.

But, so what, this is just a discussion group and it really doesn't affect the facts or the reality of what is happening with the process.

19. Shhhh. Some posters post (and alert and jury) as though not only the fate of U.S. elections,

but the very existence of the planet depends on the content of every DU post. You should be very cautious about bursting that bubble.

I still haven't forgiven my cousin Johnnie (six years older) for telling me the Santa who had been handing me a gift every Christmas Eve, described by me as "the real Santa," was actually our mutual Uncle Nick (his real name).

23. Doesn't one have to be older than six to register for DU? I think it's thirteen.

Of course, no one who is eleven and wants to register anyway would click falsely, so I am 100% confident that everyone who registered is the required age.

See, cousin Johnnie convinced me Uncle Nick was Santa, but John could not kill my naivete.

Last edited Sat Jun 25, 2016, 01:34 AM - Edit history (1)

You want to play the game of discussion, based on things like internal consistency. The game, however, apparently seems to be to see how many times and ways you can zing Sanders and/or his supporters at every opportunity.

It's not a game I am especially interested in playing, but "I know it when I see it."

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/I_know_it_when_I_see_it

Besides all that, the platform is not the be all and end all of the future, just as the primary was not, just as the election of 2008 was not, etc.

This from DUer of old and Ohio 2004 researcher, Joe Knapp:

55 districts to flip in a Democratic wave election
Saturday Apr 30, 2016

But, ssshhhhee, don't tell the Rs yet that they are about to become historical footnotes in a wave of positive change.
Well, maybe tell some of them and mention how they are going to enjoy it more than they could ever have imagined.

BTW, H.A. Goodman did write an article explaining his 2016 stance. Whether one can buy his explanation or not, one at least ought to know what it was.

I think the most extraordinary part of this is the part where you are humbly bragging about marching in the crowds behind John Lewis and MLK, going to jail, and dodging the Klan in Mississippi to help black folks register to vote.

Can we do some humble bragging, "I'm so famous and beautiful that I'm actually jealous of myself."

What kind of kinky shit is this anyway? Do you enjoy being the hero of your own comic strip? Da da da, that's all folks!

He dropped out of the presidential race. And then dropped out of the Senate race. And now he has just dropped back into it. Will he go full circle and re-enter the GOP presidential fray, challenging Trump at the convention? A silly scenario indeed. But so are Bernie's antics at this stage. He vows to work to defeat Trump. Sounds good. Supporting the nominee would be a good start.

It appears that people are still underestimating Trump, the haters that support him, and the media's willingness to continue giving him millions of dollars in free advertising cloaked as "news."

Every time a Clinton supporter chimes into a "Bernie" thread to throw stones and cold water, and every time a Sanders supporter chimes into a "Hillary" thread to throw stones and cold water, Trump gets that much closer to the Presidency. If you're that in love with your particular candidate you should be able to support him/her without taking a giant dump in every thread that supports the other.

I'm gonna go get some more ice cream.

from different standpoints, one thing stands out ... it's the Haves and the Have Nots. Or Union vs. Management. Or Mega donors vs. $47 donors.

It's happening in other European countries...either the Far Left or the Far Right. As one commentator said...the Middle (middle class) is not holding.

The hot issues are things like immigration, or free education or LGBT issues...social issues. But at the end of the day, it's who ultimately holds the money/power. The rest is just to keep the Peasants battling each other.
