Awesome Texas Abortion Testimony Poetry: ‘If My Vagina Was a Gun’

Hundreds of women and men have testified at the Texas Capitol both for and against SB 1, which would restrict most abortions after 20 weeks and close all but five abortion clinics in the state. But only one woman performed an epic poem, entitled "If My Vagina Was a Gun."

Here's the transcript of the work of art, performed by Katie Helm:
(excerpt)
If my vagina was a gun, you would stand for its rights,

You would ride on buses and fight all the fights.

If my vagina was a gun, you would treat it with care,

You wouldn’t spill all its secrets because, well, why go there.

Florida restraining order against her abusive ex was useless.

My sister believes no one should make moral judgement laws against others. That's what the pro choice argument comes down to for her.

Same situation except she forgot to take her car keys away from her ex. He went to her job, opened up her car, and sat in it waiting for her to come out of work. While in her car, he found her loaded gun. As she came out of work, he shot her and a couple of other employees, with her own gun.

Nobody was killed, but it does not end there. This was at a mental health facility which banned employees from having guns on the property. The woman was fired. She was lucky that the agency, or her coworkers, did not press charges against her.

are Gun Free Zones. All employees are told to not keep guns anywhere on the property, including in their cars. It is the same as with schools.
