(31,700 posts)So, no one really knows who will honestly help regular Americans. Hillary needs to listen to Bernie and come out strong against the TPP and other anti-regular American economic bills.
And then she needs to follow through with actual plans that regular people can understand and back.

Assuming you are honest about your "beliefs".

(14,449 posts)I am not saying 500 thousand is not a lot of money but it's not 1 percent. I said the same when some were upset over Chelsea's deal. Why be upset? It doesn't affect my life one bit. If I was in the running for the job and he got it then I might be disappointed.

(22,035 posts)I can't be bothered worrying what someone else is getting paid. If the loathsome Mr. Lewandowski can squeeze half a million out of CNN, then good for him. I neither watch CNN nor give any of their so-called journalists any credence so their business decisions are of no importance to me.
Isn't that how the free market is supposed to work?
Regardless, Mr. Lewandowski is such a scumbag that I suspect his shelf-life is relatively short. This is probably his last chance at a reasonably good pay day.

(28,795 posts)at Peter Beinart, who absolutely OWNED his ass last night. he was slanting forward in his chair, holding himself back, and trying to keep the steam from hissing out from his eyeballs. If I can find vid of that, I'll post it....a thing of beauty. Beinart was on fire, too; almost as wired as Quarry L. he was just the most terribly transparent talking pointy liar, reciting word for word garbage he spewed either that day or the one before. he's truly one of the worst reps I've seen on tv. I guess that's a good thing, because he's definitely not helping his "cause." he's not a good enough actor to be doubling Trump, either. if he was smart, he'd be ffffing up this badly to screw Doncon over, but he's clearly not, being unable to think on his feet any better than, oh, say Donald Trump.

(32,003 posts)Yes, you are right. NBC paid her as a way to get access to the Clintons. People who have worked for years in the NBC news department are paid far, far less. Interesting values you have ....

(45,319 posts)media draw, 'access' to others with that name need not have jack to do with it. You get to hang that name on your own door by paying a fee. Viewers come to see that person. It's showbiz. A famous name is a valuable thing in television. It just is. People hire Meghan McCain because of her name, no one desires 'access' to John. They just want that name.
And those values belong to the media groups, always have. Rachel Maddow on MSNBC used to pay Pat Buchanan, an extreme racist bigot, to opine on her show. Why? He was famously and archly conservative and anti gay. So they hired him to poke at Rachel to make television. He was paid huge sums and she continues to reap seven figure fees. It's standard media practice.

(32,003 posts)Really? I guess we live in different universes. I see McCain all the time on news programs. Pretty strange if no one desires access to him. Maybe off point but I am wondering why Chelsea took any money anyway since she has no desire for it.
I was curious if I could care about (money) on some fundamental level, and I couldnt, she told Fast Company in an interview that ran in the magazine's May edition, explaining why she gave up lucrative gigs to join her familys philanthropic foundation.

(28,795 posts)have you actually seen him stink up the set? I have, at least three times, and each appearance has been more hideous than the preceding one.
he clearly was trying not to strangle Peter Beinhart last night. anybody see that marvelous display of SEETHING anger, at the very border of restraint?
