There was a shooting in a Denver office building where some friends work. They’re alright. Turns out it wasn’t a random shooting, he targeted only the woman who was shot, then took his own life. But getting that “we’re okay” note on Facebook was a tremendous relief, just the same.

Then, around dinnertime, a “safe” notification, again via Facebook, from a friend who presently lives and works in Istanbul. Whenever her schedule permits she likes to travel, and she’s no stranger to the Ataturk Airport. She’d been on many minds all day, and that small notification was profoundly welcome.

Sometimes good news brings tears. Yesterday it happened twice.
