(64,303 posts)parts of it want to form their own states. As usual, it is the more rural, conservative areas where it has any traction.
It's more of a breakup movement, not really secession from the US.

As to the secessionists, they have been around my whole life. Hopefully they will never reach critical mass. If Texas goes I imagine Travis, Harris, Tarrant and Dallas counties will succeed from Texas, ala Jones county, MS and other unionist who lived in the CSA.

(24,780 posts)NOBODY in Texas wasn't to secede. It is far from anyone's minds. Anyone that matters, that is. Yes there are a relative handful of nuts that have espoused secession since 1845. But nobody that matters even thinks it's an idea worth expending even an iota of effort on.
