So, who's the guy with the long beard speaking

at the prayer meeting in downtown Dallas.

He looks like he belongs on a FLDS compound, but he speaks like a black preacher.

And he sure does like the microphone, and is now going to take questions. Huh?

important. He was going to take questions, but another minister quickly stepped in!

I've never heard of "taking questions" at a prayer meeting...even before the others got to speak!

shattered by what happened. It was supposed to be a peaceful protest.

He may think of himself as "important" because he thinks of himself as "responsible" for what happened.

I did not see what you saw. and I don't have handy a link to the news article I read this morning. But maybe that puts it in context.

addresses a predominantly black audience - a slightly difference cadence and manner of speaking. Not all black preachers speak in such a fashion, but it's pretty common.

It was just a bit jarring coming from this guy. I may have misjudged him, but the black guy who immediately interrupted him seemed to agree that he was "hogging" the microphone.
