Things I Learned on FB Yesterday:

Police are infallible. NO NO NO. DON'T argue!

There is no such thing as a bad cop, only bad people that make them do bad things. By "bad people", that usually means "black people".

"YOU'RE the ones making it about race."

"There are 3 sides to every story."

"Snopes is not a credible source."

There's apparently no such thing as racial profiling due to the fact that if a "white guy fits a description of a criminal suspect, how is that any different?"

When the (insert marginalized/oppressed community) says "please stop killing us", it's amazing how many people start off by saying "BUT . . . "

"First of all, I'm in no way justifying (insert victim's name here)'s death . . . " is the new "I'm not a racist, but . . . "

But the again, the first time somebody posts a wingnut talking point, they get instantly unfriended.

4. Life is too short to spend time trying to explain to assholes why they are being assholes.

It's just not worth it to me. There are too many good people in the world to waste even e second on a wingnut.

like that. I guess it's because I keep responding that they are still stuck in their ignorant white wing views and never progressed. The really bad ones are memes from some right/white wing sites that are clearly racist, xenophobic, homophobic and perhaps worse.

that people who don't live in the communities, where people say that they are being mistreated by cops, know better than the people who live there. It seems that once you bring the word racist or racism into the discussion, a lot of people immediately take sides.

It's now the common wisdom that it's worse to call something racist than to actually do something racist.

"Are you calling me racist?" Shrieks of horror.

"But you know how those people are." Crickets.

Of course, I'm pretty conservative when it comes to how many, and what type, of "friends" I have.

. . . most racists, gun-nutters, wingnuts and an-caps have either, by force or volunteer, dropped out of my FB.

It's the people who I once thought were rational, somewhat Democratic and level-headed buying into wingnut memes about "infallible cops and the angry scary black mens who most likely deserved their assassinations." It's those people who are deeply disappointing the shit out of me.

So I guess we're all good and living in racial harmony now.
