Rivers agreed with the notion that the presidents policies were unfairly harsh to the rich, saying, I think if I work very hard, I should be able to gather the fruits of my labor. And I think if youre not about to work, you should get minimal and leave me alone. I think if you dont wear a helmet and you fall off your bike, you pay for the doctor.
Despite her comments Rivers added that shes not interested in making a political statement and explained why she hates politics so much.
Theyre all a bunch of garbage, said Rivers. Im definitely in favor of a monarchy because theyre there, they look good, and they always have good gift shops when you leave the palace. I feel that its just all about party affiliation and its all about voting the way your party wants to vote and its not at all about what we should be about.
I think they she might have been taken slightly out of context and was probably trying to sound edgy and provocative. And she does work hard. But it's not like the government is taking 85 percent of her income. She's doing just fine.

Joan Rivers' opulent penthouse apartment is for sale at an asking price of $29.5 million. The comedienne's 5,190-square-foot pad, known as the Spencer Condominium, is situated atop one of the Upper East Side's greatest pre-war limestone mansions, less than half a block from Fifth Avenue.
Designed by Horace Trumbauer -- the famed Gilded Age architect-to-the robber barons -- this neo-French Classic apartment contains four bedrooms and five baths. From the private elevator entry hall, guests enter a stunning two-story gallery, connected to a lavish, light-filled living room -- both rooms boasting wood-burning fireplaces, 23-foot ceilings and fine parquet-de-Versailles flooring.

(38,211 posts)...you're NOT part of the "2%". You're somewhere in decimal point country.
And if not being able to make even more millions keeps you from working hard, then don't work hard. We have plenty of celebrities. Rest assured the void will be filled.

(47,992 posts)possible alienation of a husband with special emotional needs, that'd be considered too much.
. . . after-all she's the one who brought up husbands in a very FALSE and POLITICALLY manipulative way.
I mean, holy FUCKING wow. The nerve!

(4,581 posts)The "fruits of your labors" are not exclusive to you. Sorry, dumbasses. You do not exist, nor prosper in a fucking vacuum. What an ego.
Also, if you want to shy away from political statements, perhaps you shouldn't speak to POLITICO, moron. Put a couple thoughts behind it.

Pay accordingly. Making jokes about people's body parts should be below minimum wage rates. Just not valuable to society.

(10,340 posts)Tell that to people who are working 2 or 3 jobs, doing manual labor, just to make enough money to take care of their families.
These celebrities don't get it. Sure, she might do a lot of "work" - but she also has people waiting on her 24/7, taking care of her every need.

(8,556 posts)Even aside from the money, doing standup and appearing in movies/TV shows is a lot less taxing than most other jobs. Few celebrities would change places with a garbageman or truck driver, even if the money was the same.
