(145,063 posts)The costs of being a delegate is not a secrete. I have friends who were delegates in both 2008 and 2012 and the Texas Democratic Party sent out an e-mail with the costs well before the Texas Democratic State Convention. A good friend passed on running this year because of the costs.
In 2008, I contributed to send a very charming young lady to the Denver convention. She was a single mother and the entire county party chipped in. She had a great story and ended meeting President Obama and being in a commercial/campaign video.
Again, the costs here are not secrete

(20,629 posts)is now up to $500 a night! Apparently, there were cheaper options through something like Air BNB, but the guy said "I'm not the room-sharing type". So he might blow it off completely!

(145,063 posts)Credentials are passed out each morning at the hotel where your state delegation is staying. It is very difficult to get these credentials without being at the breakfast meeting each morning. I have heard of people staying at other places but who have to be at the delegation breakfast each morning to get credentials
