I always ck before donating. There was a vet org on TV all the time with well know celebs touting it, Wounded Warriors, I think & the vets got almost zip, while the CEO's made zillions.
I don't trust anyone. Legit orgs list officers, salaries, %, etc.
vet voice might just be too new though.

(58,879 posts)as a vet myself, and unable to contribute much to these causes due to financial stress, I'm always leery of making recommendations.
Too many scams out there. One indicator I always use is how much they advertise. Your example, WW, advertised far too much for my comfort. I always suspected them. Have to be careful where you send your hard earned money. I applaud the OP for checking here, at least, before he donates to some random cause. Always a lot of good comments here.

(16,296 posts)Hannity, Nugent and other assorted nuts were always appearing in behalf of WW. Later found out they enjoyed 1st rate accommodations, flown in private jets, sold their books at events, and generally lapped up all kinds of perks. The CEO was a work of art in promoting himself. Last I heard, they fired him and are trying to reclaim some high ground.
