"Conservative Values" "Family Values"

Notice how every time a rightwingnut says these the listener is just suppose to assume what they mean?

If anyone ever says this directly to you simply ask them to list these "values" and detail them.

Anyone ever do this? I'm curious as to their answers.

I'll pull it out and wear it this campaign season. And I will ask about values.

since as a Democrat I can't possibly share any of them and I'd like to know what they are.

The dumb ones just go blank with curls of smoke coming out of their ears as they try to reboot. The smarter ones splutter and insult and either stomp off in a snit or change the subject fast.

It's intentional, as it forces in-group loyalty and, through it, 'radicalization' (more appropriately, polarization of the fanatical variety). It also serves as a marker for people who are infiltrators, as an infiltrator (presumably) won't 'get' what they mean by it. As someone who has lived on both sides at various points in my adult life, it's always fascinating watching the lingo differences back and forth and the amount of sheer delusion attached to both 'sides' (lol) about the other.

Try it sometime. You'll find it's actually ridiculously difficult to describe what anything we 'believe in' actually means consistent with other liberals that you don't know.

Ask them what they think of the idea - From each according to his ability to each according to his need? Seems like the foundation of a family unit - parents do what they can for the needs of their children. Most seem to agree with this idea until I explain that it is what Marx wrote. Then the cognitive dissonance algorithm in their little minds goes kaput. It's OK to love the Jesus but not espouse anything he mentioned, but Marx? Hell no. It's kind of like Krassner's Fuck Communism poster.
