believing in Karma. Here the GOP have put Michelle Obama through hell for 8 years and then of all things they parrot her words at their hatefest. Couldn't have turned out better!

(15,380 posts)When the republicans were trying to make Hillary's, "It takes a village," an issue. I'm sure I'm remembering it wrong, and the time frame between the two statements is longer, but I remember Dole disparaging Hillary on that saying we don't need that kind of thinking but instead we need to return to the values of the good ol' days like when he grew up in Russell, Kansas, when he and some friends went to get a haircut (when they were teens), and one of them decided to show how mature he was by smoking in the barber chair like the adults, but everytime he went to lit a cigarette, the barber could snip it in half until finally he told the kid to knock it off or he would tell his parents. We needed that kind of society where we're looking out for each other! Where we knew that if our kids were out at someone else's house, we knew the parents there would make sure everyone's kids were all right and had implied consent to discipline them, etc.
The irony nearly flattened me. The only reason I could think of that Dole's version was okay, and Hillary's wasn't was that Hillary's was an African saying.

(18,672 posts)and it comes from Michelle. This is delicious, but I hope people don't forget the ugliness that was last night's horror show. I'd like to forget it, because it's extremely disturbing that there are so many ugly people. That's why I'm enjoying this speech scandal so much. I think a lot of people are enjoying it because they'd rather not think about how vile the Republican Party has become.

I've always thought that reaping what you sow is karma.
