Isn't calling for the Russians to hack a US computer......
i.e. offer a reward to find "missing Clinton emails" a treasonous act, as those emails were sent during her time as Secretary of State? If so should he not be arrested?

1. Definitely sounds like advocating a crime against a US government agency.
Cybercrime is a crime.

18. Putting aside for a moment that hacking is in and of itself a federal crime...
I'm confused. I haven't been watching much news lately in an effort to protect my mental health. After I posted my response I heard about Trump hoping the Russians could find Hillary's "missing emails". It's the treason thing I was asking about in the post you replied to.
Correct me if I'm wrong: Hillary Clinton did not once use State Department computers to send or receive emails. She used her private server exclusively. The "missing emails" Trump referred to are the ones deleted from the aforementioned server, which no longer exists. Her private server didn't belong to the US Government, State Department, or any other entity one could be charged with treason against. Treason? How? |

You can't hack something that doesn't exist anymore.

7. State Department is, though.
Secretary Of State's computer is not a DNC computer.

19. It was privately owned and operated.
Of course, hacking is a federal crime, but treason for hacking a privately owned and operated server?
Therein lies my problem with public officials going off the reservation in their attempts to maintain total privacy. |

8. Depends on whether he was referring to State Department "missing" emails.
Although advocating cyberhacking is probably a federal crime in any case.
ETA: Definitely referring to Clinton's emails as Secr4tary of State: http://mobile.nytimes.com/2016/07/28/us/politics/donald-trump-russia-clinton-emails.html?post_id=10207763114496909_10209985105285290#_=_ |

2. not specifically treasonous, as that requires actually taking up arms.
but it probably is a violation of federal law.
incitement or conspiracy to commit a felony. not that any prosecutor would pursue such a case. |

3. That is silly.
Hack what from where?
At any rate, it is likely Wiki has those emails. If the Russians hack Wiki, who cares? |

He has no comprehension or respect for basic and complex laws.

This is how low American politics has gotten: Americans are happy that a foreign power is trying to rig our election for its own interests.

it has never been shown that Clinton's servers were anything but secure and never hacked.

22. Because he doesn't live in Russia
In the US you can say whatever you want. In Russia, journalists that Putin doesn't like get blown up by car bombs. That's why Trump can say he admires Putin as "a great leader." Remember it's not treason if the president does it, and that's why you don't vote Trump.
