Police: 14 year old girl slits the throat of her brother's girlfriend

HUDSON, Wis. (AP) — A 14-year-old northwestern Wisconsin girl who told police she was a psychopath looking for her first kill is accused of cycling to the home of her brother’s girlfriend, beating the girl and slitting her throat.

The Eau Claire Leader-Telegram reports that the teenager, of New Richmond, is charged as an adult with attempted first-degree intentional homicide. She is in juvenile custody.

A criminal complaint filed Thursday says police found the 15-year-old victim Wednesday morning on her bedroom floor bleeding heavily from the face and neck. The victim told police she was in bed when she was attacked and cut with shards from broken bowls.

Police say the 14-year-old girl told investigators she wanted to scare the victim to leave the area.

and then be re evaluated in about 10 years.

The bulk of rewiring in the adolescent brain occurs in the frontal cortex, where complex and moral thinking reside.

Kids may do stupid things and may even be mean to each other. But they don't slice each other's throats.

...Or stab them dozens of times like the Slender Man girls did. That's not normal.

There's some psychotic behavior going on here beyond frontal cortex development.

What you see now might not be what you get.

There's a reason civilized countries don't treat teenagers who commit horrific crimes like they're fully grown adults. They're not.

I do hope there's some pscyhotherapy in juvie. She's probably going to need it badly.

she should take the Hare Psychopathic checklist revised.

that would put an end to all discussion regarding her modus operendi.

While their frontal cortex is under developed, kids will understand the concept of right and wrong.

However, if she was brought up in an abusive home, she could be a sociopath.

she needs to be questioned about any incidents of her torturing or killing animals.

rarely do psychopaths go from 1 to 60 with killing people, they usually "practice" on animals first.

Also, if there is no evidence of abuse, she could be wired to be a sociopath. While generally speaking, the rule of thumb is: psychopath = nature, sociopath = nurture, but that doesn't preclude the possibility that her brains is just wired differently like a psychopaths.

She could understand the concept of right and wrong but not care. (psychopath) or, as in this case, she could understand right and wrong, but have a totally skewed concept of what it means (sociopath) and sometimes, with a sociopath, their brains lack the ability to properly develop through childhood and exhibit psychopath type tendencies.

just like with Autism, both psychopath and sociopaths fall on a spectrum.

so it's really hard to say what is going on here until she has been properly examined by a professional.

but what jumped out at me was that she made the claim about making her "first kill". That strikes me as a sociopath.

Psychopaths, usually wouldn't make such a proclamation, they would have killed before (animals, etc).

Most angry adolescents with incomplete frontal cortexes don't go around slitting the throats of their peers in a planned purposeful way. While she maybe doesn't belong in the adult prison system right now, she needs to be removed from society for a long time.

7 proven and 14 likely corpses later they remembered that the death penalty exists for a reason and just levying it once then letting the guy go is not a wise move. There are hundreds like him just less splashy in more ways than one. Recidivism isn't just a long word beginning with R and people concerned about the loss of innocent life potential in the death penalty never seem to consider the far more concrete loss of innocent life involved in not carrying it out.

they rarely if ever make the claim that they are psychopaths, they think they are the normal one and everyone else is screwed up.

she strikes me more as a sociopath.

but there really needs to be a professional examination before anyone can say for sure.

her actions read more as a sociopath on the face of it.

25. great read on the subject "The Psychopath Next Door" - Martha Stout
Fri Jul 29, 2016, 04:09 PM
Jul 2016
Publisher's Summary
We are accustomed to think of sociopaths as violent criminals, but in The Sociopath Next Door, Harvard psychologist Martha Stout reveals that a shocking 4 percent of ordinary people, one in 25, has an often undetected mental disorder, the chief symptom of which is that that person possesses no conscience. He or she has no ability whatsoever to feel shame, guilt, or remorse. One in 25 everyday Americans, therefore, is secretly a sociopath. They could be your colleague, your neighbor, even family. And they can do literally anything at all and feel absolutely no guilt.

How do we recognize the remorseless? One of their chief characteristics is a kind of glow or charisma that makes sociopaths more charming or interesting than the other people around them. They're more spontaneous, more intense, more complex, or even sexier than everyone else, making them tricky to identify and leaving us easily seduced. Fundamentally, sociopaths are different because they cannot love. Sociopaths learn early on to show sham emotion, but underneath they are indifferent to others' suffering. They live to dominate and thrill to win.

The fact is, we all almost certainly know at least one or more sociopaths already. Part of the urgency in reading The Sociopath Next Door is the moment when we suddenly recognize that someone we know, someone we worked for, or were involved with, or voted for, is a sociopath. But what do we do with that knowledge? To arm us against the sociopath, Dr. Stout teaches us to question authority, suspect flattery, and beware the pity play. Above all, she writes, when a sociopath is beckoning, do not join the game.

Kali Jade Bookey of New Richmond, a city of 8,400 people about 35 miles east of Minneapolis, was charged as an adult Thursday with attempted first-degree intentional homicide. She could face up to 40 years in prison, if she's convicted.

She was being held without bail Friday in juvenile custody pending a preliminary hearing Aug. 8. Her attorney, Barbara Miller, didn't immediately respond to an email or a voicemail seeking comment.

According to a criminal complaint, which the Eau Claire Leader-Telegram first reported about, Bookey called the St. Croix County Sheriff's Department on Wednesday morning to report that two men in a green pickup truck had tried to abduct her while she was riding her bike.

She told the men that her brother's girlfriend was home alone and they should take her instead. Deputies responded to the girlfriend's trailer and found her in a bedroom bleeding profusely. The 15-year-old girl was taken by ambulance to a hospital.

There, she told investigators that Bookey had attacked her. She said she was sleeping in her bedroom when Bookey, dressed in black, appeared in her room and put her hands over her mouth. A struggle ensued and Bookey punched her in the face multiple times and broke two bowls over her head. Bookey used one of the bowl shards to cut her and slit her throat, she said.

The victim said Bookey asked her if she wanted to die or bleed out, so she opted to bleed out, the complaint states. Bookey told the victim she had been biking by her house and noting the times when she was alone, and she described herself as a crazy psychopath looking for her first kill, saying she probably would kill again. Bookey then told her to "have a nice afterlife" and left the trailer.

According to investigators, Bookey initially stuck to her story about being abducted when investigators questioned her. She later said she hated the girl because the girl made her brother happier than she could. She said she knew the girlfriend's mother left her alone three days in a row, the complaint states.
