I would imagine that the venues have already spent money and hired vendors/help for the scheduled debates. Obviously, they would have a financial loss.

He doesn't want to debate, I think it's obvious. In my opinion, he is trying to get of of it, he is trying appeal to football fans by implying that Hilary doesn't care about the sport or the teams (states) playing, or he is hoping that people won't watch the debates in protest.

He's looking for a win-win: rescheduled debates mean he bullied them into rescheduling. Not rescheduling and he has his excuse for not debating because he "wasn't treated fairly."
