Just because my campaign only insisted upon a single change to the Republican Platform, weakening our support for Ukrainian defense against Russian aggression. (Which I had no knowledge of, believe me.) . . . And just because I admire Putin for all his strong qualities, despite what the liberal press would have me believe about him. . . . And just because I've threatened to pull out of NATO because the member countries refuse to pay their fair share to defend them (Imagine!)) against what is to all appearances an imaginary threat. . . . Well, just where do you see me 'soft on Russia,' as you so ineloquently put it?"
