Racist American Legion Supports Trump. They Have Been Silent On the Kahn Issue.

The American Legion seems to be showing its true anti American colors.

1. I'm surprised they're still around

The few Vietnam vets I knew who joined did so only to irritate the hell out of the old bigots.

2. They went to the VFW and left the Legion. Legion posts all over the country are dying.

Legion has turned into mostly Navy vets that never saw combat.

3. I remember that my father and those

like him who had seen active duty in war zones during WWII joined the VFW, not the American Legion.

Back then, the AL comprised mostly non-active-duty veterans.

4. American Legion supports Trump?

I'm a veteran and member of the American Legion. I'm not very active, about all I do is pay dues. I stay a member, because I like their charities. They are a bunch of very conservative Republicans. The few times I've been, I've been the only Democrat in the room. Has the Legion actually come out with a statement supporting Donald Trump? If so, could you site a source. I'd like to yank their chain a little bit, about some of Trump's statements. It won't do any good, but it will be fun.

6. I Do Not Think They Have Officially Endorsed Trump.

The Legion has been silent on the Kahn issue. The VFW has responded negatively to Trump. The Legion may stay silent and sit this election out. I am glad for their charities. They should be on the Dems side because the Dems support veterans causes.
The GOP gives lip service but does not support increased funding for vets care. And the GOP supports privatizing vets care and closing the VA.

So I do not understand support for the GOP by both organizations. Of course, the VFW may abstain and not endorse anyone. Only time will tell.

I recall how the leaders of AL failed to endorse Gore or Kerry, so I sent this letter:

Dear Commander Barnett,

I am hoping that the AL does not endorse Donald Trump. I am presently a member of Post (deleted).

As a Vietnam vet (Navy LT, Attack Squadron 52 and Army Advisory Team 86, SVN), I would be disgusted if the AL backed Draft-Dodger Trump---but that is just one of many reasons.

The AL should never back any candidate that not only favors TORTURE, but wishes to do more of it---and Trump has said this more than once. I saw that torture does not work in SVN; mostly, it damages the men doing it. I stopped it whenever I saw it.
Furthermore, it deeply endangers our men who get captured. Yet, just yesterday, Trump said that the Geneva Convention “is out of date.”

Any educated appraisal of Trump’s behavior would come to the conclusion that, at the very least, Trump is mentally ill.

To repeat, I am hoping that the AL does not endorse Donald Trump. I really would not want to be a part of any organization which backs Trump.
