Patti Davis - 'To Donald Trump: I am the daughter of a man who was shot by someone who...'

To Donald Trump: I am the daughter of a man who was shot by someone who got his inspiration from a movie, someone who believed if he killed the President the actress from that movie would notice him. Your glib and horrifying comment about "Second Amendment people" was heard around the world. It was heard by sane and decent people who shudder at your fondness for verbal violence. It was heard by your supporters, many of whom gleefully and angrily yell, "Lock her up!" at your rallies. It was heard by the person sitting alone in a room, locked in his own dark fantasies, who sees unbridled violence as a way to make his mark in the world, and is just looking for ideas. Yes, Mr. Trump, words matter. But then you know that, which makes this all even more horrifying.

They'll have to check with the TeaBaggers, who are gutless wonders as well, but who tote those 2nd amendment solutions, so who knows? What a perplexity!

Stirring up the deranged is a very bad, very dangerous strategy.

Fer Chrissake, you just had a nut job climb up Trump Tower trying to get to YOU!

I pray this doesn't blow back on you and your family, and I especially hope it doesn't harm other innocent folk.

But think about this, please.

If a deranged person is looking for a top dollar celebrity, a dominant media figure, a "message" kill, a high profile political statement, then you yourself are (in this case) the leading candidate.

of course much of it is about personal experience but it still shows what kind of person she is.

John Thomas Dye in Bel Air. You can't imagine a more liberal environment and this was in the early to mid-sixties.

The Jesuits say, Give me a child to he is 7 and he mine forever- or something like that.

I attended JTD as well through 5th grade, when my family moved east. I credit it, and Auntie Catherine and Uncle John, who started the school, with a great deal. (all the students called them Auntie Cathryn and Uncle John). After my family moved to CT. Aunty Cathryn and Uncle John used to visit us in the summers for a week or so.

It's now only through 6th grade, and I have no idea if it's still the school it was under the Dyes, and Mr. Cagle who was subsequently the headmaster.

Every morning before school started, students and staff gathered on the lawn and raised their arms toward the sun, reciting a salutation to the sun. I just looked it up and I see this tradition still continues:

Every morning, before classes start, the entire student body and faculty gather on the lawn. While facing the American Flag and overlooking the city of Los Angeles and Catalina Island, the School community literally raises its arms toward the sun and recites "The Salutation of the Dawn," which is taken from the Sanskrit. While reciting this ancient poem, all members of the community think of ways to make the day as fulfilling as it can be. The following words are spoken:

Look to this Day!
For it is life, the very life of life.
In its brief course lie all the verities
And realities of your existence:

The glory of action,
The bliss of growth,
The splendor of beauty.

For yesterday is but a dream,
And tomorrow is only a vision.

But today, well lived, makes
Every yesterday a dream of happiness
And every tomorrow a vision of hope.

Look well, therefore, to this Day!
Such is the Salutation of the Dawn

I see, alas, they no longer continue the maypole ceremony where we wove ribbons around a maypole. I loved that. But the uniforms look much the same as they were when I was a little girl.

They don't share their parents' politics, but they have both empathy and critical thinking skills.

That was one hell of a housekeeper or the best and obviously critical thinking pre-schools from birth (the aformentioned Dye school). I can't believe I'm coming off as defending that dolt Ronnie Reagan. Ron Jr., however, has always struck me as a thoughtful and reasonable man(who, BTW, has never tolerated personal insults to his dad). Patti acted out a little too much rebellion back in the day, but seems to have become much more grounded. It's a puzzle, all right.

this is the logical extension of the Republican party. Their rhetoric over the last 30 years has been speaking this cacophony of hidden messages of hate, which has produce Trump as an official candidate, who with his current rhetoric is putting forth his dystopian idea of killing his opponents. As logical extensions go, this one is pretty easy to see and to comprehend. It is the responsibility of every voter to fervently defeat this yellow yam.

right after the incident. It was a YIPPIE! paper.

The headline read: "Shoot Bush First"

Now, I'm not for violence of any kind. There's been more than enough.

But, thinking back, 'How prophetic?'.
