Donald Trump, following weeks of gnawing agitation over his advisers attempts to temper his style, moved late Tuesday to overhaul his struggling campaign by rebuffing those efforts and elevating two longtime associates who have encouraged his combative populism.
Stephen Bannon, a former banker who runs the influential conservative outlet Breitbart News and is known for his fiercely anti-establishment politics, has been named the Trump campaigns chief executive. Kellyanne Conway, a veteran Republican pollster who has been close to Trump for years, will assume the role of campaign manager.
Two Trump campaign aides confirmed the staff's reshuffle early Wednesday, requesting anonymity to discuss personnel changes without permission.
Trump issued a statement hours later. I have known Steve and Kellyanne both for many years. They are extremely capable, highly qualified people who love to win and know how to win, he said. I believe were adding some of the best talents in politics, with the experience and expertise needed to defeat Hillary Clinton in November and continue to share my message and vision to Make America Great Again.

(18,837 posts)...is that you seldom hear them say "I want to win." They just effin' go out there and win.
Trump said "win" twice in one sentence. Does that make it a win-win scenario?
I want to win, Trump told The Wall Street Journal late Tuesday. Thats why Im bringing on fantastic people who know how to win and love to win.

At least, there will be somebody if Manafort is gone from the campaign.
I think they are truly worried about what is coming down the road.

Might as well go the full Monty and add Matt Drudge and Bill Cosby to the team.

There are so many possibilities here, the least of which is that Trump is going for broke on a job he really doesn't want.
But it's all about his ego...if he were to win, he's already signaled that Pence would run the country while he devoted his full time to "Making America Great."
The difference between Clinton and Trump is that Clinton doesn't take the bait. Behind closed doors, she might be dropping f-bombs left and right, who knows. But she's been running a smart campaign when it comes to letting Trump put the noose around his own neck.
If she stays on track...and I have no doubt she will...and if Trump remains a loose cannon...no doubts there, either...this could be a pretty entertaining and disastrous year for the Republicans. The Presidency, the House, the Senate, and dreaded liberal SCOTUS picks, all in one fell swoop.
Meanwhile, Trump will be wielding a knife and fork and gazing admiring his piece of KFC, thinking "I'm going to win. I like to win."

(2,108 posts)She's Olympic, Usain Bolt caliber. He's more like my neighbor Glen who drives from his house to the mailbox at the foot of his not terribly long driveway.
She will stay on track. She's a professional. He's a gadfly. His speeches are written using the "I'm rubber and your glue..." technique of communicating.
Gannon at the helm? Breitbart is for people who find Fox News too understated. What votes are they going after?
I agree, it's entirely about his ego. And he's in way over his puffed up orange head.
