It seems like 3 times a day there is another conspiracy theory about the Clintons. There is such a visceral hatred towards them. Sure, they hate every democrat but why do they seem to take it to the level of extreme delusion when it comes to the Clintons? What did Bill and Hillary do to earn the psychotic wrath of GOP? Honestly, I don't get it.

I really believe that Hillary is the brains in the relationship.

(32,093 posts)Bill was smart enough to usurp some of their pet issues, such as welfare "reform", free trade, and crime. He also has a charisma that they lack. And, it pisses them off to no end. They try to beat him, but they just can't. Each failed attempt at taking them down results in the republicans becoming more pissed off, and more entrenched. Their hatred is pathological, at this point.

(12,634 posts)they've been rabid to cause a failed Democratic presidency. They're not any worse now than they were to Pres. Obama. Remember the "fist bump", the "flag pin", the "apology tour", the Kenyan "hatred of western democracy", the damn birth certificate? They're twisted.

(2,720 posts)Before he was around, people honestly thought that Republicans were better for the economy than Democrats.
Republicans claimed he would ruin the economy, but instead it boomed, embarrassing them. They then focused almost exclusively on conspiracy theories and so-called "character issues", financing constant attacks on them. And when they finally did come up with something, it was prevaricating about a blow-job. They impeached, and Clinton's favorables went up. Theirs went down. The public didn't give a damn - good old Bill was getting good jobs for everyone, including late night comedians.
They couldn't stand it.

(6,496 posts)I was in high school and college then and general feeling was there were lots of good jobs out there if you got an education. The tone seemed to shift dramatically when Bush Jr got elected and it was hard finding decent professional jobs post 9/11. I found something eventually, but the search was much more difficult than it had been for people graduating just a few years prior to me. It continues to be pretty competitive to get jobs for college grads. They all pretty much have to do unpaid internships to get a shot at good paying job now.

(52,318 posts)he was a singularly potent political force and, left unchallenged, he could have steamrolled all over the republicans. they had to do something to tarnish his brand and try to reduce his clout and derail his agenda.
lacking anything real, they fabricated scandal after scandal.
hillary doesn't have the same personal charisma, but she has a powerful machine behind her, so they're similarly desperate to trash her as well.

(24,461 posts). . . the GOP have had nothing but failed presidencies ridden with scandal, terrorist attacks, war and economic ruin and horrible candidates to try and restore whatever dignity they could muster from those failures.
How desperate is it that there's a campaign to name everything cemented down after a president who oversaw the installation of a plutonomy, had more officials indicted for scandal, a wholesale transfer of risk from the wealthy to the middle/working/poor and the cherry on top . . . high treason?
Their last Presidency is surely going to go down as the worst in modern history and at least in the top 3 of the worst EVER.
They cannot stand that America simply performs better and is far more confident with a Democratic president at the helm. Time is marching on and they're, plain and simple, NOT. They're pining for a time where they can finally finish the job Bewsh started and have complete subjugation of labor to the corporations. The GOP is not even a dust-speck interested in making things fairer, they just want to make money and lots of it for their handlers and it's getting harder and harder every year to sell a more informed public on their platform of rottenness.

(24,437 posts)and no matter how much they try to smear the Clintons and even when they genuinely mess up, people still generally like them. Unfortunately, this year, they've also brought a fairly vocal crowd of anti-HRC left-wingers along to help support them in their derangement but still, at a time where the Republicans had held the WH for 12 consecutive years, Bill Clinton finally ended it in 1992 and they failed to make him a one-term President. Plus, there's a very real chance that Democrats might actually have the WH for 12 years if Hillary wins this year and possibly more if they can't get their party in order at the national level.
