http://www.politicususa.com/2016/08/22/republicans-turmoil-trump-abruptly-cancels-campaign-events-states.htmlTrump blamed the flooding in Louisiana for canceling a rally and fundraiser that was scheduled in Portland, OR....
The Trump campaign is spending very little on ads, has no serious field operation, and now Trump is campaigning less.
One has to wonder if Donald Trump is still trying. Maybe the reality television billionaire is on the verge of taking his ball and going home. Either way, Republicans are trapped in more Trump turmoil.
The flooding in Louisiana?! August 31 is a week from tomorrow!!

(46,176 posts)no snark intended. he doesn't stay on the road. and he certainly doesn't exhibit the stamina of clinton or sanders. these cancellations put health in mind as the reason. time will tell.

(82,849 posts)Look, if you want to know the truth, believe me, Trump is very, very, unhealthy. Very unhealthy. So unhealthy he might collapse at any moment. Top medical professionals all agree that a nationwide campaign is very demanding, especially for men over 70. It's unbelievable.

Did I mention that he is old? Very very old...

(196,351 posts)He has avoided and be allowed to avoid a lot of the normal campaign type events. I've never seen him working a rope line. When he stepped over to sign hats in Louisiana that was the closest I've seen to shaking hands. His body language screamed "Ugh those unwashed masses". No kissing babies. No pancake breakfasts. Speaking of body language, the press allowed him to do an incredible amount of telephone interviews.
I saw it as a stamina saving strategy from the start.

(15,064 posts)His color us wrong. Wait, that's normal for him. He's overweight and breathing hard. His hands are a different color than his face. The Secret Service says his feet stink.

Doesn't really work that way in politics.

(1,757 posts)I'll take "Three States That Will NOT Be in the Trump Column on Election Day" for $500, Alex.
Didn't McCain try this with the economic crash in '08? Tried to tell Obama that a REAL leader would skip the first debate and suspend his campaign until the financial issues were worked out.
Yeah ... that helped him immensely...

(236 posts)Does the campaign give out tickets ahead of time? I'll bet that there was was low interest and the Trump campaign does not want the press to cover events that are not full of people.

(10,252 posts)He knows perfectly well that he's losing big time and will never be Prez. So why bother? Why waste perfectly good money on a vanity pipe dream that will never ever happen? For him, it's tremendous waste of time. It's a disaster. Playing golf is so much more appealing.

(31,338 posts)His new staff likely convinced him it is stupid to go to states that will not ever vote for him.
In addition, perhaps he's going to sit down and actually study/practice for the debates.
Oh and also, he surely wants to save any money his campaign has left to embezzle for himself once the it is over.
