So much for C.K. being afraid of all those negative consequences and sponsorship losses. I'm sure Dr. Dre will distance Beats Audio away from this "spoiled, attention-seeking loser" (the response from several regular DU posters -- be proud and own it) as soon as he gets the news.

"San Francisco 49ers star Colin Kaepernick is putting his money where his mouth is pledging to donate $1 million to community organizations Thursday.
Kaepernick's anthem protest spread as the quarterback was joined by teammate Eric Reid in taking a knee before their preseason game against the Chargers. Seahawks cornerback Jeremy Lane also sat during the national anthem before his team's preseason game against the Raiders Thursday."

(18,101 posts)a man who spews right-wing talking points about our Democratic nominee for president, you might be on the wrong website.
Colin Kaepernick
This is Democratic Underground, not BLM Underground. Anyone posting that right-wing bullshit here would get banned.

(2,016 posts)Colin Kaepernick who earns $1M every 4 days tries to buy himself out of the mess his bigoted stance put him in with 1M dollar? Gee, what a great sacrifice to the community. Half a week's pay.

(854 posts)Right? You're a hero for equality.
Your resentment of the wealthy, uppity black man who dared to make money and speak his mind is obvious. After all, he should be grateful for what he has and just STFU, right? After all, it is YOU who is on the right side of history here.

See? Always dangerous to assume things.

(2,620 posts)deep was sporting a shirt showing a known murderous, oppressive, dictator responsible for the deaths of 10's of thousands, the imprisonment and torture of MANY more - while complaining about & condemning (seemingly) all cops - over the actions of a tiny minority.
But, I guess 1M is a good start to cover that sort of ignorant offense...

I'm sure it will work out.
Somehow.

(21,506 posts)You knew that but posted your silliness anyway. The point was clearly that just because he has a view of clinton you disagree with does not mean he is wrong about racial inequality.

(18,101 posts)It seems to me that a group of people who are so often the victims of broad brush attacks like that would condemn them when they see them, not embrace them.
What I know is, this man is no hero, and no friend to Democrats who want to win elections.

(26,355 posts)Even the Democratic Party screws things up. Not nearly as often as the Republicans, which is why I'm here, instead of those other boards...
But if Kaepernick can push our party to do better and come closer to our ideals, I'm all for it.
pintobean
(18,101 posts)isn't pushing our party to do better. Is that the goal of the Republicans, when they say that?

(19,264 posts)to tell everyone about it really refutes the "attention seeker" label in the OP...
No such thing as bad publicity for some.

(849 posts)If you're upset with government employees (police) shooting blacks then protest the mayor. governor, president that controls these government employees training, actions and any repercussions. Spewing hate for the country whose government these employees work for spreads your hate amongst the populace that has nothing to do with the problem. Go to DC with your millions, stop all the 'look at me' publicity stunts, make your mark against the people who control what should be the primary target of your hatred, the government itself. Showing hate for the country itself while raking in your millions tossing a ball around will get you the typical response of, if you hate it so much, leave.

Not that he needs anyone's approval, or anything. People are free to protest or call attention to injustice, in any mamner they choose, as long as they do it legally.
