(18,470 posts)Opposing women having a career outside the home and such all while having her own career outside the house. Quite the case of do as I say, not as I do.

(7,570 posts)Every time I saw her flapping her yap on TV, I always wondered why she wasn't home cleaning the house and fixing her husband a nice meatloaf with mashed potatoes.

(13,133 posts)Jimmy Carter looks to be living to at least to the century mark. At 91 he acts and moves around like a 70 yr old.
Having beat out cancer recently with what sounded easy for him makes me think freeperville has a long wait.

(6,335 posts)because he's had her on his show a lot and never agreed with her on issues but did on over reach of Supreme Ct. He explained she's a classic conservative work at home woman of the 1940's and couldnt change with the times.
niyad
(132,290 posts)insisting that OTHER women stay home? really, thom? that is. . . disappointing, to say the least.
ErikJ
(6,335 posts)But he's very polite to all his guests. Thom is about 65 so he might have an older perspective on those types of women. Like an ad from the 40's of your mother in the kitchen with apron on. Who knows.
niyad
(132,290 posts)ErikJ
(6,335 posts)Maybe that's a bit of it. But he did admire her a lot for her lone stance on the over reach of the Supreme Ct. One of Thom's main issues which hasnt really caught on. And I agree with him that its a big problem. The billionaire class also owns the SCOTUS.

(63,221 posts)What kind of argument is that? "Because all our greatest presidents have been men." So have all our worst presidents. For that matter, so have all our presidents but that still isn't an argument against a woman becoming president. I'm so glad she is gone and silenced forever!

(9,445 posts)Why was she so opposed to a woman being President? What is wrong with a competent woman being President of a country? Why does a woman not have the right to want to lead a country?
Are we at some point going to find out that secretly Phyllis Schlafly was a woman who wanted to have a grand career outside of the home and that she may have wanted to be President of the United States, but was told she was not allowed to do such a thing. Are we going to find out that she was so opposed to women having careers because she at one point was prevented from having the career she wanted and she did not want to see other women to have the career she could not have.
niyad
(132,290 posts)answer is that she was one of those "I got mine, and I am going to make sure nobody else has anything" people.
