http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/hillary-clinton-smile_us_57d16d90e4b00642712bc259?Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton took a hit at Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus on Thursday, the day after he tweeted that the presidential hopeful should have smiled more during a televised forum.
In a tweet posted after NBCs Commander-In-Chief forum, Priebus criticized Clinton for having no smile while talking about foreign policy.
Clinton brushed off Priebus comments during a press conference, saying she didnt smile during the forum because she was talking about serious issues.
I dont take anything seriously that comes from the RNC, Clinton said.
She also criticized Republican nominee Donald Trump for praising Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Maybe he did it with a smile, and I guess the RNC would have liked that, Clinton said.
* So sexist. What is this crud about women have to smile all the time wtf?*

(22,669 posts)She spelled it out perfectly. She's our one hope for a future. The other candidate is worrying, to say the least, a danger to our way of life is more like it.

(16,829 posts)It is so condescending and sexist. Would anyone criticize a male candidate for not smiling during a foreign policy discussion?
After Hillary is elected, a lot of education will have to take place.

(34,444 posts)Exactly that in response.
Her reply was very good, but the heart of the matter is that it is very sexist and only sexists would object to her correctly pointing that out.

(6,342 posts)That's all they do is tell employees to put on a smile.
Americans seem to like smiles....even when they are fake.

(16,829 posts)If employees are supposed to be giving customer service, smiling or being pleasant applies to both male and female.
But all women have had the experience of having a male who is a complete stranger tell her to smile - as if she exists only for him to look at and it is her role in life to be pleasing. Its amazing that total strangers will comment on a facial expression, but somehow they feel they have the right to do this.

(65,010 posts)The comment would have been something about how you couldn't take her seriously because she was smiling while talking serious subjects.
Her best comment was that she doesn't take anything from the RNC seriously.

(27,630 posts)Many women have received the offhand comment before from a random man:
"SMILE!"
or "You're prettier when you smile"
I know I got it a lot, along wth other, much more egregious sexual harrassment from men, mostly strangers who just wanted my attention for a second, or whatever. It's fucking annoying.
Women get similar comments in more involved settings and conversations / discussions as well. This is well documented, and women are fucking sick of it.
Good job turning off women, Rince!
