http://occupydemocrats.com/2016/09/11/just-new-investigation-finds-trump-stole-911-reconstruction-funds/At issue is $150,000 which was granted to Trump by the government, which Trump claims was due to his generous help following the worst terrorist attack on American soil. In April, Trump gave an interview to TIME magazine and boasted, It was probably a reimbursement for the fact that I allowed people, for many months, to stay in the building and use the building and store things in the building. One can note Trump, even then, hedged his lie by saying probably a reimbursement, of which he was just so proud. He went on to create a fake story of emotion, I was happy to do it, and to this day I am still being thanked for the many people I helped. The value of what I did was far greater than the money talked about, much of which was sent automatically to building owners in the area.
If Donald Trump is being thanked for his service to New York City following the 9/11 attacks, the individuals doing the alleged thanking can not be located. In fact, there is not a single person on the record ever thanking Donald Trump for allowing them, or their organizations, to use his property at 40 Wall St.
A simple search of records from the Empire State Development Corporation, which was in charge of administering the repayment for the recovery program, found that Trump was indeed reimbursed but not for the reasons which he publicly stated. In fact, Trumps company requested reimbursement for repair, cleanup, and rent loss. Absolutely none of the records show Trump ever asked to be compensated for helping individuals, and there is absolutely zero evidence to substantiate Trumps claim. What the evidence does show is Trump lied again and this time his lies dishonor the 2,997 individuals who were killed on that horriffic day.
Furthermore, even if Trump were telling the truth and the records magically disappeared, which they didnt, there is still the lingering fact that the program recovery program was only for reimbursing businesses which suffered uninsured losses, and not for reimbursing individuals for their philanthropic work. David Catalfamo, who was working with New Yorks governor at the time George Pataki, helped to administer the program. He confirmed that Trump was lying and stated, Hes clearly wrong. I saw him say that and hes obviously wrong. Catalfamo went on to describe how the program actually worked for everyone else outside of Trumps warped version of reality, It was not part of the program to give money away for the other ancillary stuff. The way the program worked was to help businesses cover for uninsured losses. Businesses came forward with their losses and we covered part of them.

(28,795 posts)A lawyer questioning Trump in the case on behalf of the plaintiffs, Jason Forge, peppered the presumptive GOP presidential nominee with questions about his claims and actions surrounding the case.
At one point, he told Trump that the businessman had stated he had "one of the best memories in the world," according to a transcript that includes hundreds of pages of testimony.
"I don't know. Did I use that expression?" Trump asked. When told he had used the phrase, the billionaire asked to see evidence that he had said it, being told there was video of his remark.
"Did I say I have a great memory or one of the best in the world?" Trump asked for clarification, to which he was told he'd said he had "one of the best in the world."
"I don't remember saying that. As good as my memory is, I don't remember that, but I have a good memory," Trump responded.
"So you don't remember saying that you have one of the best memories in the world?" Forge asked.
"I don't remember that. I remember you telling me, but I don't know that I said it," Trump continued.
He stood by another expression that he had "one of the all-time great memories."

(53,206 posts)A so-called multi-billionaire taking $150,000 from a fund meant to help small businesses hurt by 9/11? To a billionaire $150,000 would be considered chump-change and I would think people of such wealth would be "giving" not "taking" after a tragedy like that.

(53,206 posts)it was legitimate, but that doesn't make it right. Also he did not receive the money for the reasons he claimed. He is just a greedy asshole, who will do or say anything to benefit Donald J. Trump.

(53,206 posts)that he didn't make false claims to receive the money, but he lied about why it got the money later to puff himself up. Of course, I wouldn't put it past him to commit fraud to get a buck. It seems to be his business model.

(28,795 posts)this law is for people who make less than FIVE HUNDRED THOUSAND bucks!!!!! so you can make $499,999 and still get this break!
Here's where it gets interesting for Trump: To be eligible for STAR, a married couple must have annual income of $500,000 or less. One wouldn't think a guy as rich as Trump claims to be would qualify, but records filed with the city's Department of Finance show he received a $302 STAR benefit on his latest property-tax bill for his Trump Tower penthouse on Fifth Avenue.

so.....Trump is either a relative pauper, income-wise, or committed some sort of tax fraud/perjury
which is it?

(53,206 posts)they don't come much cheaper than Trump. Even if he were a multi-billionaire, which I doubt, he would still manipulate the system for a few bucks.
He has gotten away with so much fraud and perjury in his life, I think he believes he can do anything now.
