I have to & I had a 24 hour cough. I called idiot Doc & he told me to take Robotussin whatever. My hairdresser, hearing me cough non-stop asked if I took BP meds that could be my problem Called pharmacist, who said I probably was allergic to ace inhibitors, I was.
Went to Doc & told the idiot that my hairdresser diagnosed me. He changed my BP meds.

I have offered this advice to many people & you would be surprised how many Docs are clueless.

I know about the side effect and haven't had a problem with the dry cough lisinopril can cause. I know what you mean. Had a coworker with a persistent cough who had no idea it was because of his BP meds.

I have a phone job, and I'd completely lose it on calls at least twice a day. Went through cough drops and claritin like crazy, didn't do anything.
Finally went to a new doctor who immediately got me on a different med - cough went away in a day.

I take an ace inhibitor and also a diaretic. I've had bronchitis a couple of times and found I had to stop taking the diaretic for a few days in order to get better. Of course, my doctor was surprised when I told her what I had done, but it worked.

I broke a many year cycle of getting bronchitis that started when I got pneumonia while in basic training. I did the traditional route, for years, but kept getting sick, twice a year, like clockwork. I finally got fed up and went the 'self medicate' route with a strong toddy (green tea, honey, lemon, whiskey and cayenne pepper) and chicken or vegetable soup with so much garlic, it would make me sweat.

Once I went the toddy/soup route, the cycle was broken and I haven't had another bout of bronchitis in 20 years. And the best thing about it is, you can do it even while on antibiotics, and, much like chicken soup, it certainly can't hurt. Now if I even feel a hint of a cold, I start the soup and toddy routine and usually feel 100% with a day or two.

And, of course, the soup has the added benefit of keeping vampires at bay. Well, and most anyone else, truth be told.

As does honey.

No one will ever convince me that taking the chemical pharmaceuticals didn't suppress my immune system. I'm pretty healthy, too, so using natural ingredients, letting my body rest and relying on my immune system to do its job works well, for me.

The veg I put in the soup are tomatoes (vitamin C) onion, cabbage, broccoli and cauliflower. I read somewhere that the Cruciferous vegetables contain the most nutrients so it seemed the perfect fit, with the garlic and onion.

I think I take after my Great-Great-Grandmother, who some considered to be a 'witch', but she was actually a gifted healer.

You can use raw honey to treat a burn or cut, too. And garlic is good for lowering blood pressure. But don't tell big pharma - they'll try to reclassify both as scheduled drugs.

I am a big fan of peanut butter and honey, too.

for almost 3 years now. I have end stage COPD. One small cold and I end up in the hospital within 2 or 3 days from onset. Plus I have allergies. I spent a great deal of time researching and experimenting. Elderberry is the best. The minute I get that feeling I take 1 elderberry capsule, 1 astragalus capsule, and 1 oregano capsule (garlic is good too) 3 times a day for 3 days.

I take N-acetyl Cysteine or NAC which it's commonly called daily. But since I'm not always good at taking meds I forget, then end up with some virus and quickly take the above combo.

This is why I'm still alive today.

Mucinex at the first sign of a cold is now my required regimen. This year, it didn't hack it (see what I did there?) It took two rounds of different antibiotics to ward off pneumonia.

This isn't going to hurt her at all unless she refuses to rest now and really get better.

If she doesn't rest, she isn't going to get better, and she won't do well in the stress of the final campaign and the debates.

Everyone gets viruses - laying up for a few weeks won't hurt her. Being wrung out in the last states of the campaign will.
